It's time for the annual DirecTV price increase.

Yep, I think we are getting ride of satellite this time. We have both Netflix and Amazon Prime so I think we will be okay. We can always add Hulu+ if we feel the need.

Knock yourself out. I thought these two sections of the notifications were particularly interesting:
"Annually, the owners of these TV channels increase the fees they charge to DIRECTV for the right to broadcast their content. As a result, DIRECTV must periodically adjust the pricing and channel lineups of some of our programming packages so that we can keep these channels in your package."
and
"This year, the programming costs we pay to owners of TV channels This year, the programming costs we pay to owners of TV channels will increase by about 10 percent, but we have chosen to adjust the prices our customers pay by an average of only 4 percent."

So, I'm genuinely curious - and I don't work for DirecTV - why you feel you should bear even less of your satellite provider's cost increase than they're passing on to you than the 4% they've chosen? They have to pay each channel or company per subscriber/channel. Just like Disney, they're a business. They exist to earn a profit for the owners. Their non-channel costs go up - utilities, payroll, maintenance....
