We are also from Cleveland (westsiders) and will be at POR August 11-19th. It seems that we always run into people from the area down there. We are leaving on the 10th to make the long drive down. Hope you have a great trip!

I think I might get a TGM/DIS meet going at POR. There are so many of us. I think it would be really awesome to take over the piano bar.

I'm running out of time to set anything up though! lol

One more question for the experts:

What kind of crib is provided by the resort? Is it a real crib with slats, or a Pack 'N Play?

Thanks!

Could someone please tell me which buildings used to be smoking? I want to be sure to avoid them just in case :) POR is amazing! It is our #1 choice but we will be there when POP Warner is there and we are trying to decide what to do. One week I am ready to stay no matter what, the next week I see teenage girls at the mall and I picture that times too many girls outside my door cheering:cheer2: Has anyone been to POR during Pop Warner, and if so, what did you think? We will be at the resort for ten days, and will spend at least three at the resort...

I am here to reassure you that you will have no problem with a former smoking room. Here is my story. My family are definitely nonsmokers and I definitely wanted to avoid a former smoking room, especially because we were there at the end of June (not even a month after the turnover). Building 18 in the AB section was a former smoking building. When the CM told me we were located in the "most coveted building 18," my first reaction was disappointment and I voiced my concern about this being a former smoking building. He went on to tell me that all buildings were nonsmoking as of June 1st, blah, blah. I then asked him if all the former smoking rooms had been thoroughly deoderized and the mattresses changed. He assured me of all my concerns. I was still very skeptical.

We decided to go to the room and I had a feeling I would be changing the next day. However, I never, ever, EVER smelled any smoke at all during our entire trip. Let me tell you, I really put it to the test by putting my nose down to the mattress and sniffing hard. You can imagine how silly I looked but, seriously, we stayed in that room and loved it!

It is a pack 'n play...I was pleasantly surprised....they are very nice and look like brand new...a sheet is provided too.

We are coming to POR in October and not sure if we want to request Magnolia Terrace or Oak Manor. Please HELP. Not sure about the east bus depot or main bus depot. Does anyone know if October is busy?

I am booking my trip in Feb '08 now with DU. I'd like to know how to request the things we need/want as a family. We need a trundle room in Alligator Bayou. Also, we have small children who are big eaters, so we'd like to be close to the food court. From what I've read, it sounds like Bldg 18 is good. How/when/where do I request these things?

Building 18 was great for our family of 5. To make specific requests, wait until 4 days prior to your arrival and send POR a direct fax to the attention of the room assigner. Put your requests in order of importance and try to explain why you would like each request. The room assigner will try as hard as possible to fulfill as many requests as possible but there is no guarantee. If you explain why then, if they cannot fulfill your exact request they can come close to it. Good luck.

BTW, here is what I requested in order of preference:

1. Trundle bed.
2. First floor room.
3. Building 27.
4. Former nonsmoking room.

I received the first 2 of my requests but ended up being very very happy with building 18.

From what I understand, the room assignor no longer likes to be faxed . . . you may only annoy them!

If you have a family of five you will automatically get AB with trundle . . .

I asked for bldg 14 or 15 when I made my ressies . . . both are close to the main bldg/busstop!

I would have to agree with the last poster. Personal attention with a smile is always the best....

popcorn:: Staying here for the first time (first time at WDW in over 20 years!) January 2008. Just Subscribing, thanks.

Subbing! Had to transfer ressie here (cheaper than POP with the Disney Visa Code!) Saved over 400 bucks from regular rate (I think)! :)

I'm thinking about requesting a room in Parterre Place. I've been reading a bit of the past threads (but not all 70+ pages!) and was interested in knowing more about that particular mansion. I want to stay there because it is the closest Mansion to POFQ, where we originally wanted to stay.

Any comments will be most helpful. Thanks!

Does that mansion have an elevator and how were the buses. I am going in Sept and was going to ask to stay at Magnolia Mansion (I know that has an elevator)

Thanks

By us there were stairs, no elevator that I saw. We had a river view.
