Poohbear Fan- I was hoping someone would say that.:thumbsup2 For us it looks like a good location. How long of a walk to the food court? We'll be staying there in Aug. Have a great time in 11 days! :goodvibes

Sounds great . We have only stayed in POFQ. We shall have to try this next time.

I have, I have! Twice, actually!

I love it...it's the perfect location, close to a quiet pool, not far from the parking lot and laundry, even not too far from the West Depot bus stop.

Wait a minute...do I want everyone to know this??? :scratchin

Truly, though, it is my favorite building. In fact, I'm hoping to stay in it again in 11 days! :goodvibes

11 Days?! I will be there too. We check in on May 3. We were booked for FQ & between Disney & AAA they goofed up our ressies & put us in Riverside instead. FQ is completely full. Not very happy about all this, think they could have been more careful with the ressies, but if I do have to stay in Riverside I requested AB #s 38 39 & 27. I guess we'll get what we get.

Does anyone know if POR still serves red beans and rice??? The last time we were there in 2003 the area that served this type of food was closed for remodeling so I missed out. Now, with the remodel I do not see them listed on the new menu. What about the quesadillas?? My kids loved them our last trip and again, I do not see them on the new menu. Anybody????

DisneyMaddness, we stayed in building 39 and absolutely loved it. We were on the 2nd floor and had a corner room that looked over a quiet pool. It was so beautiful and quiet there. We were just a short walk to the food court and probably a 4 minute walk to the bus stop. Great location!

I'm looking at my map and looking at the distance to the food court from bldg 39. I assumed that you crossed over the island, right? Was the back door open so you could enter the food court from that entrance rather than going all the way to the front of the main bldg. I remember someone complaining about not being able to enter through the back...:confused3 Thank you.

There are multiple entrances along the back of the main building. I can remember at least 3. You should be able to use any of them. When we stayed in 04, we only used the main entrance the day we arrived. Always used a side or back entrance after that.

I don't think it's a far walk, but honestly don't remember. We only walked there once (we don't eat at the food court usually) and that was during a leisurely walk around the grounds, so I'm sure our route was not direct.

I hope you have a good trip in August! I leave on May 5!:cool1:

Anyone been to POR recently noticed if they still have red beans and rice on the menu at the food court?? :confused3

We are going to POR Sept. 22-30 this year and it will be our first time staying on Disney as well as the very frist time at Disney World for DD4 and DD3. I have a few questions for everyone.

1. Is there a small grocery store on site that we could buy milk from?

2. Is Soya milk available? DD3 has a milk intolerance.

3. Which buildings are a good bet with two preschool aged children?

4. we have friends staying at ASM. How easy is it to travel between resorts and is it worth it to take a taxi instead?

5. If our friends would like to stay with our kids at our resort while we go off on our own, will they be able to take advantage of the pools and playgrounds even though they are guests at another resort?

Thank you for any help you can give us. I am just trying to make this first family vacation as successful as we possibly can!

We will be going next month and are requesting AB section.

We have stayed in the Mansion before, but this time want to try the AB. This will be our Anniversay Trip.

Our first trip to WDW was on our honeymoon. Boy have we learned about more about WDW since that first trip. :lmao:

Have a great time and please come back and tell us how your vacation went and if you received your requests, etc.!!!

You can buy milk in the general store off the lobby. Not sure about soy milk but I will try to remember to look for it when we are there next month and let you know. I know bldg 14 is supposed to be close to the main area. We were in 36 last time and it was good for us, but it was a little further away (we didn't mind). I am not really sure about travelling between resorts. As far as the pool thing goes, I would not consider that pool hopping, since your friends would in essence be taking yours and your DH's place with your kids at the pool KWIM? Hope that helps!

Does anyone know if they ID you before entering the pool area? I didn't think so but I know they do it constantly at the YC/BC (but they have a big pool hopping problem there).

What I cannot figure out is why it took me this long to find this thread! I must be totally out in left field as I have never noticed it before. I am certainly happy to find it now!

Thank you so much for your answers. Great detail and I appreciate it. We are actually going at the end of June and, from what I hear, it is peak Summer season so the crowds will be in force. I am reconsidering DME as I keep hearing bad things about the luggage retrieval after 11 pm - and our flight comes in at 10:58 pm. :confused3 I'm considering getting a van escort for our trip to the resort and utilizing DME on return to the airport.

How was the return DME to the airport? What time was your flight and how much time did you have once you arrived at MCO?

Thanks so much for your answers and comments. I know it's hard to even be on here after a Disney vacation. Try writing a trip report...it really helps you relive your vacation. I would love to read it!

 Hi Dawn Maree!!! Funny meeting you over here! :rotfl:
We arrived late last year and it took forever to get our luggage so this year we are doing what was suggested above. Since we are getting there early in the morning we are just going to get our luggage ourselves and bring it on the bus.(DME) I assume our room wont be ready so we will have to check our luggage at POR. Then I figure we can hang out, swim, etc till room is ready. Then get dressed and go shopping, eat dinner etc. :cheer2:

On our return last year, we had plenty of time at the airport. I would say we arrived about 2 hours before the flight. We ate and walked around and finally went to the gate once we dumped all our water....lol ;)
