It's the Peters Family 16 hours until Poly/Live Report!!

Since I clearly can't sleep, I can tell you we leave in just under 16 hours. Here's my brief lead in to our trip.

#1) The departure date is a surprise to dd10. She knows its this month, but has no idea it's tomorrow. We fibbed and told her we were going to one of the amusement parks about am hour from our house. We will tell her just before week we leave the house.

#2) Dd also doesn't know we are staying at Poly. Last year we stayed at CSR, so Poly will be a big surprise to her. I am planning to blindfold her when we get to the ME lines so she doesn't see which line we get in, and having her use her earbuds to listen to music so she doesn't hear the bus driver talking. I'm hoping to keep the surprise all the way until we pull up at the resort. She's pretty bright, so, we'll see......

I'm going to try to sleep and spend some quality time with my beloved dog before we go. That's the only part I dislike about leaving is leaving him. Dogs rule!!!

I'll be back in the morning with a briefing on how the surprise went.

Dd is up now, and I can barely contain myself. I want to tell her so much right now. I am waiting for dh who went out for his morning run (he's training for his first marathon). I'm trying to wait until he gets back. It's 8:48 our time. 6 hours until our plane takes off!!! Woohoo!!!!!

We waited for our Dd's surprise trip until we were at the airport!!! She thought we were going to New orleans for her birthday.....boy was she surprised!!

Ok, it's done! She knows!!! She's out of her mind!!

I told her dh wasn't feeling well (which is true) and said we probably shouldn't go to the amusement park as planned. She looked very sad.

Ok folks!!! We are driving to the airport now. It's 12:50.

Boy, I really thought that taking a later flight would afford me more time to get ready and be more relaxed. However, I am an over packer, so I shouldn't have left so much until the last moment. I was trying to keep the luggage hidden from dd, so I didn't get as much done ahead of time as I wanted to.

Anyway, here we are, on the way to the airport. I still have one secret left for dd, and that is where we are staying. Hopefully I can keep it going until we get there.

I'll be back before we take off!

Ok! We are on the plane! This our first time flying Southwest, so this whole find your own seat thing is a bit different.....

We will hopefully be taking off on time in 7 minutes!

We have landed!!! 15 minutes early too!!!! I will try to take some photos as soon as I can. We are literally in the very last row of the plane, even though we checked in exactly 24 hours prior to departure time. Why did I bother??

The time we made up arriving early will be lost waiting for everyone to get off the plane.

Ok, guess not. We're off. Walking to the tram!

Ok we've gotten off the tram, and upon trying to find the ME counter, we found that ME moved from the A terminal to the B terminal. So after much fumbling we found it. We got past the three or four CM's telling them to not say the name of the resort. We are on ME and she still has no idea. I'll try to grab a photo of her face as we pull in!

Ok, here's my update! Aside from the really long wait in the parking lot on ME, and the very long winded bus driver, we arrived at Poly safely. I did manage to keep our destination a secret until we arrived, and here was her reaction.

She was so excited!!! It feels SOOOOOOOOO good to be here! I've missed it so much! I swear I wish I could live here!

As we entered the lobby, beautiful as ever, we were greeted by name by a CM. We were escorted to check in, and everyone was super friendly. As we were checking in, I asked Madison if my request had been noted. I had requested Samoa, third floor overlooking the Volcano Pool. As she searched, I could tell it had not been noted anywhere, and she told me so. That did not please me. I know it's just a request and not a guarantee, but if they aren't going to even note it, why do I bother asking? So, she did call to see if there were any rooms available there, but of course, there were not. They have us Raratonga, first floor, facing the quiet pool. This location is actually just fine. We have stayed in this longhouse before and really like it, so I'm not even disappointed we did not get our request. Just a little miffed they did not bother to note it. But where we are is great.

The lobby looks beautiful!

We had a quick dinner at Capt. Cooks. This is actually the first time I have ever had a Dole Whip!!! It was yummy! Dd wanted to swim, so we went back to the room to change and while there our luggage showed up. When we got to the pool, look what we were just in time for!!

Dd and dh went swimming and my dsil and I hopped on the boat to cruise around a bit!

Tomorrow is MK, so I'll be back then!
