On the way home today, Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger In Paradise" came on the radio. That was the song that started playing just as I sat down to eat a big delicious cheeseburger at Cookie's on Castaway Cay... and I remember thinking, "Wow, I really *am* having a cheeseburger in paradise! It doesn't get any better than this..."

I smiled all the way home. :)

So, what little things take you back to the cruise?

I totally understand where you're coming from!! Little things like that are constanly making me think of the cruise. On our cruise in March they would play that song "Can't Get you Out of My Head" by Kylie Minogue (the one that continues to repeat La La La... over and over again!!). They played that song on the top deck all the time and even when we were in St. Maarten we heard it!! So now everytime that song comes on the radio it makes me reminisce. I wish I was there now!!! :(

I guess those memories we hold in our hearts are what Disney is all about. I can relate also to the songs I heard while on board. When I hear them it takes me back to the Magic and Wonder.
Can anyone name some of the dance tunes they play at the sail away party.
YMCA
Macarena
Livin la Vida Loca
What are some of the others.... I can't remember the name of that one but they play it faster and faster while the counselors in the yellow shirts and blue pants jump up and down. Where they get all that energy.... I guess DCL picked the right ones to work in the clubs!!!

Gina,

I thought it was so funny that it was that song for you. I have a Castaway Caye postcard that I mailed to our home on our fridge. I wrote "Eating cheeseburgers in paradise...it doesn't get any better than this! Come back soon!". We can't get back there soon enough!! Of well, I'll have to "settle" for WDW in 51 days. I know it's quite a "sacrifice"!!!

At our first dinner at home after our Magic cruise a couple of weeks ago, my two sons, ages 7 & 10, re-inacted a Magic dinner...complete with folded paper napkins, cherries in the sodas, and Croatian accents like our servers!

Cute, but for some reason the food wasn't as good...

The songs that bring me back to the sail away party are "We Like To Party"(dont know if thats the real name???), "Get Ready"(that old song...get ready, cuz here I come), and of course, "Who Let The Dogs Out". :D
Oh, only 10 weeks from right now and Ill be on my way!

Whenever we go to the parks, we purchase a CD or tape to play over and over in the car. We get something new from the parks (incidental music from Haunted House, Animal Kingdom background, etc.) So what would anyone suggest as pre-cruise music? Has Disney made a tape of any sort that has a large number of cruise-heard selections?

Carla

Abitjaded, I don't think there is a cruise-specific CD, but try any of the Radio Disney compilation CDs...a lot of the music comes from those. :)

What a great thread, all of your memories are bringing memories back for me! :) The song "We Like to Party" also brings me right back to the sailaway party, learning a little dance with my daughter:

...to the right...
...to the left...
...SLIDE...jump jump turn...

:D

Oh Michelle.....you hit it on the head....that song with the dance steps.....that reminds me of the cruise so much......we finally figured out the steps at the tropical party on Deck 9. Love that song!!!

I was surprised that did not play "Let's Get the Party Started" by Pink....maybe it was too new for them to have it. I think that would a perfect song for the sailaway and tropical night parties.

It doesn't have songs like the ones played at the sailaway party, but the greatest pre- and post-Disney cruise cd out there (to me) is Disney's Beauty and the Beat. It's classic Disney songs done by a steelpan band, and it just way cool. :) You can find it at Amazon.com -- just search for "Beauty and the Beat." DS and I love that cd!! :D

August 2000 "Who Let the Dogs Out" was played everywhere, everyday. But we definitely had a laugh listening to it. It was fun. Cheeseburger in Paradise reminds me of St. John when I was there years ago waiting for the ferry back to St. Thomas, it was playing in the restaurant right off the pier.

That is the song I was thinking about:
Everyone and to the left:
"Hey now,Hey now
Hear what I say now
Happiness is just around the corner
Hey now,Hey now
Hear what I say now
We'll be there for you"

I just had to respond to this post also.

I was in Toys R Us yesterday and they were playing the fast version of Beauty and the Beast. This song played constantly out on the ship's deck on our last Wonder cruise in January.

I could bearly shop or think. I felt like I was back on the Wonder.

:bounce: :p :bounce:

For me it's also Who Let The Dogs Out, cause when I was on Castaway Cay May 2001 Pluto was dancing with the kids who were all singing along. It's great Disney memory.
