I'm happy to report that it is 1:30 p.m. EST and I am DONE with the Thanksgiving baking:). I did everything from scratch. I baked an apple pie, cranberry pumpkin cookies, and peanut butter/chocolate chip swirled cookies. Last week I made a Holiday Cranberry bread and froze it. I will take it out to thaw tonight. I am also trying a recipe called "Day before Mashed Potatoes" and those are all set in the fridge, waiting to be baked tomorrow:thumbsup2 .

I even got in a Walmart run and picked up Santa Clause 3 for our viewing pleasure sometime this weekend.

I know it may not sound like a lot, but this is the first year I've ever put that much effort into holiday baking. Our day is just the 4 of us at home, so I think we'll have plenty of food:). We're also having chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, but DH will handle that:).

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!

I'm still at work so nope :D I need to do my apple pie and fudge when I get home tonight

done? :confused3 DONE!?! :scared: I'm supposed to be DONE? :lmao:

I made Buffy's Mom's Relish (only because it needs to sit and "marry" for overnight)

BJ's made the pies...
Got 2 turkeys in the fridge thawing...
DH will do his special sweet tatoes later...
Setting table after DS dusts and vacuums...

Tomorrow:

Finish thawing birds (cold water time)...
Give them the oil massage, stuff their bellies with sweet onions and apples, and get them in oven...
Make dressing...
Make green bean casserole...
Make cocktail sauce for the 3lbs of shrimp that DH just HAD to have...
Make whipped cream after dinner with DS...

Hire someone else to clean up :tink:

I'm getting ready to start...
The turkey is thawing in the fridge.. we are eating about 4pm so I don't have to get up at 0 dark thirty...
I'm getting ready to make the chocolate cream cheese cake...
Let's see the rest.. I'll do tomorrow.. I'll set out snacks and just enjoy the day til dinner time...It's just the 5 of us... and I cook enough at holidays to feed a small army so we will have plenty to eat!!

We are going to my aunt and uncle's house tomorrow, so I just need to whip up a few appetizers and my orzo. Yummo! We're not eating until 5:30(!!) so I have plenty of time.

(I didn't get frosted or treed...):confused3
But now I have been! Thanks ladies for looking out for me! :)

I bought the vegies I have to cut for the appetizers at my aunt and uncles but that is all I am doing for Thanksgiving this year. I got off easy. We rotate through houses and my turn was 2 years ago.

Oh, I hope you like it. You'll have to let me know what everyone thinks.

As for being ready for tomorrow, I survived the grocery store without killing anyone, does that count for progress???
Mom is making the turkey with my guidance so I will be floating between houses all morning. DS11 set the Tivo up to record the parade, I'll make chocolate chip pancakes as well, in the mickey waffle maker. I bought the sweet potatoes. I think that's it.
DH needs to call his mom to see if she's coming, I have 2 sick kids so she may not want me to share. LOL

I still can't wrap my brain around the fact that it's Thanksgiving tomorrow, I changed the Xmas countdown too. 30+ days til the big man appears. I am so behind! :scared:

Pumpkin bundt cake is in the oven! I will make the pudding pie tomorrow and I bought a chocolate cake.:)

The rest of the meal is being catered!:thumbsup2

So I think I am done!:cool1:

DONE??!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: and I got out of work early too.

I picked up the turkey from Mom's, came home, heated up dinner, made a boursin cheese spread, the cranberry mold, and the pumpkin pie. When I sat down to eat dinner, I feel asleep on the couch. :confused3

I'll do the rest tomorrow. At the moment I smell delishously like nutmeg.

I swear I saw mom at the grocery store today!! I know it couldn't have been her because it was the one on the other end of town but I did a double take none the less. It was weird!

I'm ready for tomorrow but it took me all day. Today me made 81 pieces of Lefsa, 2 pies, 1- 21 lbs turkey, Brine for tomorrow's Turkey (yes, you did read 2 turkeys for this house hold), picked up the Ham, made three cheese balls, cleaned all the silver and make the sweet potato cassarole.
Now, let me just say we are only have 10 for dinner tomorrow afternoon- Am I crazy or what? If you are in dry GA- stop by, there is plenty of food!
I'm going to sleep well tonight and get up tomorrow and cook away!
Happy Turkey day!
S :)

i am so not even close to ready and i'm dis'ing.......

i have got to go.......

INGREDIENTS
18 baking potatoes, scrubbed
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour

Peel potatoes and place them in a large pot with a large amount of water. Bring water to a boil, and let the potatoes boil until soft. Drain and mash well.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 8 cups mashed potatoes, cream, butter, salt, and sugar. Cover potatoes and refrigerate over night.
Mix flour into the mashed potatoes and roll the mixture into balls about the size of tennis balls, or smaller depending on preference. Keep balls of dough on plate in the refrigerator.
Taking one ball out of the refrigerator at a time, roll dough balls out on a floured board. To keep the dough from sticking while rolling it out, it helps to have a rolling pin with a cotton rolling pin covers.
Fry the lefsa in a grill or in an iron skillet at very high heat. If lefsa brown too much, turn the heat down. After cooking each piece of lefsa place on a dishtowel. Fold towel over lefsa to keep warm. Stack lefsa on top of each other and keep covered to keep from drying out.

I googled it, sounds yummy!

You got it! We only make is twice a year because it takes hours.... Fun but hard work. This year was the first time we let the kids make their own peices start to finish, it should make a great scrapbooking page!
