How hot is it?

It's so hot here that there's been a crawl across the TV screen since I got up at 7:00 with school closings! Like during the winter when it snows!!

It's just so weird! Of course our local district won't close early because they have finals.

I'm thinking of breaking out the kiddie pool for the living room. LOL The AC is having a tough time keeping up & it's still early!

I know! All of our schools have A/C so no early dismissal for my DS today. He was so disappointed. But we only have 3 days left now...

I am having DD's birthday party today. Her birthday isn't for 2 weeks, but who wants an 8 year old boy at a party for 5 year old girls, ya know? Anyway, I had games planned and yesterday I decided to have the girls bring their suits and they are going to swim on our new inflatable water slide. Much better!

Drink lots of water and take it easy! The heat isn't supposed to break until Wednesday am.

Schools are closing here too. Not ours of course because Admin is a jerk, but as soon as DH comes home with Lunch I'm going to go get the boys. It's just to dangerous out there. I think I will be keeping them home tomorrow too.

It's soooo hot here too!!! And the big new AC unit that was installed 8/6/07 and cost $$$$ because DH wanted to MAKE SURE that we had a good one is broken...and the 1hr service is a crock, as I'm still waiting...

Well, went and got the kids. And caught flak from the teachers. I really hate it when they try to undermine my rights and responsibilities as a parent. It's 100º here right now. I think the kids are better off at home.

It's normal Texas weather here. Hot- 100 degrees. Kids are already out of school.

DD#1 reports that there were children vomiting from the heat at school today. The 2nd floor of our school is an oven in this weather. A notice came home with the kids that tomorrow is going to be a half day due to the weather. I'm sure glad I'm a SAHM.

We've got a heatwave over here too, no way the schools ever close (I went my whole school life without ever having them close because of weather.) Our kids don't break up for summer until mid July though - that's a killer!

No early dismissal for us, but it was in the town I work in.

We hit the pool as soon as we got home, it felt great to cool down. The rest of the week is supposed to be as hot, mid 90s.

My car thermometer said 101 when I got in the car after work (at 3:15 p.m.). We're in summer school--no early dismissal--but we have AC. I've been running a fan in my office (good pregnancy overheating!!), but the other counselor I work with keeps a heater running in her office every single day of the year!!

i saw that tonight buffy. all the surrounding towns are closing or early dismissal but ours. the "super" is a real idiot!!!!! she will never close. it's a power thing for her.

Well the Admin must have taken their happy pills today!!! LOL We are getting out at 1. I already kept the boys home though, but DS6 went in for 2 hours to rehearse the play.

You could so tell,the principal was not happy, but I'm like it's 8:30 and it's already 80º out. The nurse wanted to leave by 11.

Parents are ticked because the teacher postponed the play that was supposed to be today. Guess what people I don't care if you took the day off, it's not safe!!!! Besides with the early dismissal they can't have it anyway.

OK sorry, vent over.

Our city was only one of two that had early dismissal yesterday. The kids got out at 1 and my youngest had no pre-k(he was devistated because it was PJ day). Today they are getting out at 11:30 and it will count as a full day. So DS5 has no school again (today was color day-every grade wears a different color) and he has no school on wednesdays. Friday is graduation hopefully.
