It's snowing here.......UGHHHHHH!

Where in Indiana are you?

I'll say its too soon. Heck, it was like 90 here this weekend. I couldn't even imagine snow this time of the year.

Oh NO!!!! I'm in Indiana- where are you at???!!!??
I just peaked outside- none here- YET!:scared:

We still have our AC on and could swim if we wanted to, I would love some snow about now.

Guess that's what we are in for tomorrow evening (I think).

I'm in upstate NY - in the Adirondack Mountains.. The "scenario" that is being painted - in terms of weather (ie: snow and high winds) - seems to be getting worse by the minute.. I have the Weather Channel on right now and Jim Cantore was just stating - in that "ominous" voice he uses when he's in town for a hurricane - how "dangerous" this storm could be up here in the mountains - and how likely it is that I'll lose my power (which means no heat)..

Right now it's still just raining - I guess the real problems will be arriving tomorrow, tomorrow night, and into Wednesday.. I wish they would get Cantore off the Weather Channel because he's making me mighty nervous.. Actually I may just change the channel if he doesn't lose that ominous tone.. :headache:

Someone please tell me that he's being more dramatic than necessary.....:sad2:

C. Ann...why hasn't your SIL come up to pick you up and get you out of there. We have had days of warning. Good luck, I agree that it doesn't look good in that area. Best to ya!

We are about 40 miles off Lake Michigan. Depends on the winds whether we get lake effect snow, we were in the right spot last night. Ground is clear this morning but there is a cover on the rest of the outside. I am soooooo not looking forward to this, 80's & 90's sound wonderful. I'l be a pretty crazy woman come Feb:scared1:

There are several issues with him coming other than on a weekend..

In order for me to get my car out of here, I have to leave during the day.. I can't see to drive at night AT ALL - nor can I see to drive in the rain..

When I leave - everything has to leave at the same time (meaning the need for his truck and my car both) - because anything left behind will freeze without the heat on..

Due to my water supply, there are connections across the road that have to be disconnected (not something I can do) - the pipes have to be drained -and antifreeze has to be put in my sink, the toilet, etc.. (None of which can be accomplished in the dark.. There are no "street lights" here - mountain road - pitch black out there..)

The "several days of warnings" didn't include the "high wind warnings" (the only thing I'm really concerned about - because that would mean loss of power and thus loss of my heat) - until after the weekend had already passed..

So - we gambled on the weatherman - and it looks like we lost.. Big surprise - huh? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will definitely be looking into getting a generator for next year though.. Then someone will have to teach me how to use it..;)

c.ann keep us updated as to how u r doing with the weather. Isn't there anyone that can get you out of there? Keep posting so we know you still have power. If we have to we'll send the St Bernards, just kidding, but I will be praying for you. Just keep us updated. :)

Consider yourself lucky! We have a big snowstorm here with at least a foot of snow. Sleet/rain/snow mix and nasty winds. We just got our power back on 10 minutes ago and school was closed for the day.

IT'S TOO SOON!

Yep, we got it on Sunday. Big, wet globs of sleet and then some big, wet snowflakes. Fortunately the ground is warm enough that it melted almost immediately and nothing stuck. We had about three feet on Halloween day back in 1990 I think or maybe 1991. I felt bad for all the kids out there plowing through the snow to trick or treat. :sad1:

Still just rain here, but the wind is picking up..

I wish I could just pack it in and go, but remember - I'm here for 7 to 8 months out of the year, so basically I move just about everything I have up here in the spring and then have to move it back to DD's for the winter..

Imagine packing up your home, draining your water lines, emptying out the fridge and freezer, making absolutely sure you have left nothing behind that will freeze, etc., etc. - and you can see why it's not just a matter of, "Hey - come on up and get me.."

It takes a considerable amount of time - there are things that have to be done during daylight hours (by my son-in-law) - and then there's the added problem of me not being able to see to drive my van home if it's raining and/or dark..

I'll continue to pop on and off the DIS as long as I still have power, so at least you will know I haven't turned into a popscicle.. :rotfl:

DD called earlier - son-in-law called about 10 minutes ago.. They're keeping track of me as best they can..;)

15 inches so far as of 5 pm. Our winter watch isn't out until 4 am.
Lovely.

We have snow here in the UK at the moment. It was a complete shock and I don't remember snow this early in the winter. Yesterday was nice and warm. I hope it will improve soon.
