Severe weather season is upon us in the Midwest. As the Daughter of a Meteorologist who specializes in severe weather, I would like to let everyone know that your state has a Severe Weather Awareness week.
Here is the link for Minnesota: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mpx/swaw.html
Here is the link for Wisconsin: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mkx/taw.php
Please take the time to look up and read the information for your state. Also, if you have a group of any kind (church, boyscouts, etc.) or just for your office, you can contact your local NOAA office and have a Severe Weather Specialist come and give a talk to your group. Or you can take your class to the office for a tour (call first.) My Dad did a TON of these talks during this time of year.
The last thing I would like to recommend is that everyone have a Weather Alert Radio. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/ I would not be without one of these any more than I would be without smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in my home.
Thanks for reading my PSA!
