My oldest two kids went to Cedar Point with their school yesterday and have proclaimed it to be the most fantastic place on the planet. Once they discover the super massive thrill rides, Disney can't compare in a teen's eyes. I probably won't be able to talk them into another Disney trip again. Poor me. :sad2:

On the bright side, CP is only 2 and a half hours away. That'll save $$$.

I wouldn't count your Mickeys before they're lost. DS17's been to Cedar Point and to a number of Six Flags, and still prefers Disney. And he's quite the thrill ride aficionado.

I feel your pain, my family is Disney'd out and dreams of a trip to Cedar Point

It's like comparing apples to oranges-two entirely different parks with different vibes.

:thumbsup2 My boys love the thrill rides, but still prefer Disney to the amusement parks. I will add that they LOVED Universal Orlando and the coasters at SeaWorld. Busch Gardens has great coasters as well. You could always do a combo trip to make everyone happy.:goodvibes

If your kids will no longer want to go to WDW, then I guess that means that you will have to go without them.:thumbsup2

I know how you feel. Mine would prefer to go to 6 Flags or to Maui. Sadly, I'm saddled with 500 DVC points. I had hoped that the grandson would love WDW but no, he prefers the beaches too.

Oh, but it's so fun to go to WDW without kids! Ours are grown and married, and they love going with us now. It'll be a whole different trip when we go with little ones again.

And I agree that doing a combo trip to Florida with several different parks would be a nice compromise.

Don't worry - they will return the fold! Especially as they get older, if mom and dad pay for the accommodations:lmao:

Sounds like a side trip to Universal Studios is in order, especially their Islands of Adventure park. Plenty of thrill rides plus Harry Potter is fantastic.

Travelled from nyc to cedar point last 2 years. Really is a nice park and Kalahari water parks/hotels are insane.

Top Thrill Dragster is great was my favorite but like disney extra hour hotels make lines more enjoyable.

Yes, the thrill rides at CP are among the best out there, but the park in general is not that great. Employees that seem less than thrilled about working there or are flat out rude. Not as clean, poorer food, longer lines, etc.

I'm almost 23 and have been going to CP most of my life, but still prefer Disney parks...honestly, I think even more so now that i'm old enough to fully understand the whole "value for your dollar" concept.

My kids went to cedar point and loved it, but they still want Disney World.

Ditto! My kids love Cedar Point for the rides, but they love Disney for the "attratctions", accomodations and the food, which CP can't hold a candle to Disney with.

My teens have been to Cedar Point as well as many other theme parks and Disney is still their number one choice. They just love the whole Disney vibe. And when we go to Disney and they "need" a thrill ride day, we just head over to Universal.

I'm jealous of those of you who have teens that prefer Disney. Mine say Cedar Point makes Disney seem boring. In their words "Cedar Point is WAY better." I probably would have agreed when I was their age, though. Now that I'm older I am not so into the thrill rides and much prefer the vibe of Disney World.

I think we will try the Disney/Universal combo next time. We've never been to Universal before.

Universal is great, I think it is a great blend of more of the bigger rides and a "theme" park. My kids are asking to go back, especially now with Harry Potter. I really think your kids may like it.

How often do you go? for a while we were going about every 15 months and my entire family got bored on Disney. Some time absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Dont be too sure. Once they have kids, the need for speed will subside.
