I was going to say, wait until it snows.

Actually, when it snows, pray for LOTS of snow. Then no one leaves their house and it's really easy to get around (for those of us who know how to drive in the snow)

It isn't any better on the other side of D.C.! When I first moved here 7 yrs ago, my MIL warned me. She told me that when it snows, people actually abandoned their cars on the side of the highway & walk to hotels. I thought she was exaggerating.

Nope. That first winter, saw it firsthand! WTH? Rain, snow, bright sunlight, an accident on the OTHER side of the highway... All excuses to go 20 mph!

The other side is the maniacs who have 4-wheel drive and go hell-bent-for -leather on the Beltway when there's an ice-storm of something similar . Oftentimes I see them a little further along, having slid into a ditch. 4-wheel drive can't grip an icy road.

Thankfully I don't do much driving, but my dh will have to agree with you. Every snowfall he comes home from work fussing over the scaredy cats that won't push the gas pedal.

I moved here from WV. We KNOW how to drive in the rain, snow, sleet, fog, etc.

I live 2 miles from work. There were THREE fender benders on my way here. IDOTS!

I always think it's hilarious that when we have pouring rain or snow, I am the first one at work in the morning -- the native Marylanders fuss about every flake, while this native Californian can manage to get the car where it needs to go.

I always think of my grandmother (who lives in OKC and refuses to drive in rain) asking me if I drove in the rain, and my father laughing at her, telling her if I didn't drive in the rain I'd never get anywhere at all. Up here most of us (except the imports) know how to drive in the rain. But heaven help us when it snows! I can drive in snow, but I try not to because there are waaaaaay too many idiots around here who can't. And a lot of those dumb bunnies that don't realize that 4wd does NOT help you on ice.
