Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your comments on the Party for the Senses event. I attended for the first time last year and, while I enjoyed myself, I really struggled with the fact that there was no place to sit. I have a bad back and actually had to beg a cast member to let me sit on the edge of the stage and was only allowed to do so for a few short minutes. There weren't available chairs anywhere and few tables. For $135, I find this absolutely deplorable and think it should be stopped. Now with the change for the "private wine room" where you can sample "other" wines and are guaranteed a seat, it's even more expensive. As you said, it will of course have a hard core group of people shell out the cash even still.

Again, thank you SO MUCH for your comments on this (the rest of the crew's as well). I have been ranting about this myself for quite some time.

And the $8 for the wine tastings and food demos?!?!? I doubt we will do many, if any, of those this year. While I have enjoyed them in the past years - when they were free - for the money I would rather just have a glass of wine and sit on a bench and people watch around World Showcase.

How are they going to work the $8 thing anyway? Are you going to stand in line and pay as you go in? (Not sure Bud and his wife will like being cashiers.) Or are you going to have to make reservations? Or buy tickets in advance? It is all very confusing - and disappointing. :sad2:

This is why I refuse to go to this event. For that amount of money you should at least have an assigned seat at a table.

I've always managed to sit at a table during Party for the Senses, but I do spend at least half my time standing up. While there are hardcore "seat savers", there are others who would have allowed others to have a seat if needed.

I always tell people to wear comfortable shoes for PFTS because chances are, you will be standing a lot. These walkabout events are intended for most people to graze, not park themselves at tables. Disney has dropped the ball by allowing the venue to get oversold or "comped" more than is comfortably allowed. The South African wine event was held in the same space, but they didn't oversell it like PFTS, so I had plenty of seating choices if I wanted them.

You will find that the paid events for wine pairing meals do have assigned seating. PFTS is the exception based on the type of event it is.

As for the $8 thing, I'm hoping the samples are worth the same value as getting the items at the World Showcase kiosks. That makes the presentation speakers an added value worth the cost and money. I am reserving judgement until I hear about these from the first wave of F&WF attendees.

At least this should cut back on the tacky people who rudely got up after downing the samples in order to get back in line early for the next freebie.

I loved his rant on this topic, it rates up there with one of his best. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
You wouldn't find me spending that kind of money for that.
Disney should know better...:guilty::guilty:
When will they learn.
100 lashes for the person that came up with this idea.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I knew Lori was going to post that. lol.

I still think it's just ridiculous about the seating whether or not it is a "grazing" event. I'll graze, but need to sit for a few minutes here and there. They should offer that option.

This was not our experience AT ALL.

We were herded into a pre-event waiting area and when the curtains parted, there was a stampede for the limited number of tables and chairs. These tables were guarded like a lioness guards her "kill".

There were 4 of us attending (John, Kathy, her daughter Katie and myself). We finally found a "stand up" bar table and scouted for chairs and / or barstools all evening. 90 minutes after the even began, we were offered a regular chair that we shared for the duration of the evening. When sitting in the chair, the table was at ear level and I'm 6'5". This is not a comfortable way to share food, wine or conversation.

As I watched the room, someone ALWAYS stayed at each and every table. People would either take turns or they would bring each other food samples.

Maybe we were there on a very crowded night, but thats not the feedback I've gotten. I have been told that the only way to do this is to arrive early and have everyone in your group dash in opposite directions when the curtain is parted. When one person snags a table big enough for everyone, call the others and let the other tables go.

I always tell people to wear comfortable shoes for PFTS because chances are, you will be standing a lot. These walkabout events are intended for most people to graze, not park themselves at tables.

That's the way this event is marketed, but again.....this was not our reality.

The venue was not overly crowded and we never waited in line more than a minute or two. We should have had the opportunity to sit at least once in a while. This was after all a three hour event.

The issue was that there were enough seats for approximately half of the attendees. in my opinion, there was virtually no reason not to have more tables WITH chairs. In my opinion, EVERY person attending the event should have the option of a seat at a table. Whether you choose to take advantage of that seat is entirely your choice....but you should have the choice.

And the idea of charging extra for the opportunity to sit at an already overpriced event smacks of the worst kind of price gouging.

I have to say that you will be able to ice skate in Hades before I would ever attend this even again, unless the policies change.

Kevin, stop stalking me.

That is all. :P

Seriously, I do want to add another concern we had. Since losing weight....yeah, this is going to sound very strange, I know....but since losing weight, I have developed a slight case of claustrophobia (in extremely crowded areas...think Tree of Life's line que when it is full). We avoided arriving to PFTS early because I had concerns about the stampede Lori told me about last year when I was getting ready for this event. I would not have been comfortable dealing with that. It also concerned me because if a disabled or elderly person was attending and did not know about this I wondered if they'd be safe. I know Disney states it is safe over and over, but this did cross my mind.

ROFL...I don't think I can say that on the boards, dear.

JK!!!!!

BTW, Sean is planning on calling in to the show next time. He won't say what he is going to do. rofl
