Basketball is big overseas as well. Look at all of the NBA and college players that don't make it here, they go to Europe, china, etc. To play basketball on teams there.

I disagree so we'll leave it at that. That's exactly why basketball ISN'T huge outside of the US. The European teams are basically "here are our American-players-not-good-enough-for-the-NBA vs. your American-players-not-good-enough-for-the-NBA". It's pretty ridiculous...and it's probably the biggest reason why soccer is SO much more popular.
We get it, you know people.
Others here know people as well.
As we both know tone does not come across well in text. Your message came across as boasting that you know people on the inside. You listed a bunch of things that you knew before anyone else as if you were bragging. There is no need for that list.My point was not that I know people. It was that there are CMs who have credible information. With examples.
I know good well there are many folks on here who know people on the inside, who work at Disney and have credible information.
And those with more sensitive information won't be sharing it here nor sharing it with people who will share it here.
I always try to give a "source" or type of source when I share, and not just proclaim it as fact that I know something.
I also know there are people on here who are know-it-alls, who want everyone to think they are an insider or who use other message boards as their sources. Sadly too many people plan or hinge on those comments when planning their trips.
I'm here to share and enjoy the conversation. On this thread I shared what a top blogger posted, nothing more. Not looking for any response, just sharing. And yeah, when I am told that CMs know nothing, I respond in defense of all the CMs who do know something, are involved and have interest in the company. It was not me projecting anything other than some CMs know things. No need for a nasty response that I was trying to say otherwise or highlight my friendships.
And if CMs know nothing then we shouldn't be listening to any of them who post on here.
Yeah, of course they could spend a fortune to try and make this thing fit in the existing building, even though it makes more sense to start over. But we'll never know the amount of money used on the project. But then Disney doesn't always do what makes sense. And yes, Disney is now often throwing good money after bad so it wouldn't surprise me. But then if they don't expect this to succeed, it makes sense to just patch it up and throw it out there ............ hmmm, sounds familiar.
Will be going to WDW the end of March, and glad I'll get one last time to visit DQ. Are there ways to get discounted admission? We won't plan to spend the entire day there, maybe just the morning / afternoon at Disney Springs before heading to one of the parks?
Don't know about lately but no unusual for them to put signs out front for half price admission after about 4 pm.
Some ticket brokers sell them discounted but if not a large enough discount I would wait in case your plan changes.
Was not aware of lower prices later in the day, Thanks, I'll look into that!
Yeah, the really sad thing is we're losing a really unique place with lots of unique attractions and games you can't find anywhere else for something really un-Disney, really ordinary. Even my brother who's really into basketball is really sad to see this goTo me it's not about the NBA (and whether that is a draw or not). To me, it's about just losing a "Disney" thing at Disney Springs. It's a shame they couldn't update DQ or make some sort of Disney thing there (a theatre for showing Disney Broadway shows?). But I guess they want Disney Springs to be like a giant outdoor mall and appeal to more than just Disney fans and vacationers.
I just don't see the long-term appeal for a huge building dedicated to one sport that isn't even that popular to the types of people that travel to Walt Disney World. NFL experience? I'd argue that the country probably enjoys college hoops over the pros where no one but die-hard fans pay attention to what's going on until the playoffs.
I wonder what the "experience" part will entail. Courts to rent to play a pick-up game? Shooting games?
When it comes to the restaurant part, I just think our current culture has moved on from these giant "themed" restaurants that used to be big in the 90s and early 2000s like ESPN Zone, Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Café, etc. There are much more and better choices (for food) at the same price (or cheaper) without all the glitz.
Hopefully they'll sell the games. My brother already mentioned wanting to buy one when that happensStay tuned. Disney has said that they will be developing an approach as to what will happen with the assets in DQ in the coming months.
