Hi Ann...

The DIS has not been to bad for me....

...there is definitely something going on....I read on another thread that there was talk of a possible virus(?) associated with this site :confused3 ....I know I was having trouble the other day...

Our internet sucks so bad everything is always slow. We're looking to sign up for Fios, now, but the internet is so slow the page sleeps timing out!

Thank you all. Our problem was our internet company. :sad2: They are not horrid but man.... For some silly reason I hate being on a computer in the middle of something and the computer boots me out. :confused3 Our problem was that happened the other night and it caused everything in our house to go wacko. After DH plugged and unplugged and reset and worked some magic (a few hours later) we had our service back.

Good day to all J's & K's

My BIG news is I paid off our Beach Club CL reservations. :cheer2::cheer2:
And will pay off AKL CL as soon as Disney releases the military discount for the new fiscal year.

I had a number of firsts yesterday. I am not very interested in watching sports and my interest in the Olympics was pretty much confined to checking the medal tables a couple of times a day. Soccer is not exactly my sport either. If Graham watches soccer on TV, I leave the room. Still, about a week ago it sunk in that this is probably the only time in my lifetime that I have the Olympics pretty much on my doorstep. Most of the Olympics is taking place in London, but some of the soccer matches are played right here in Manchester. Graham had been to two of the men's preliminary matches and was wowed by the atmosphere. I came around to the idea that I would regret it if I did not make the effort to attend at least one Olympic event. So we discussed on Tuesday that we should try to get tickets for the women's soccer semi final that was played here. I did not really rate our chances, but on Wednesday Graham managed to get tickets for the match yesterday at a very good price.

We watched the semi final between USA and Canada. To my immense surprise I really enjoyed it. The first half was more about the acrobatic ability of some of the players than the soccer. There were all kinds of interesting tumbles and somersaults. At some stage I wondered if they were thinking that they had entered a gymnastics event. When Canada scored, this came completely out of the blue. The second half was complete edge of the seat stuff. The goals came hard and fast and soon the two teams were tied at 3:3. The game went into overtime and it looked like this would go to penalties. In the last minute of stoppage time after the extra time had been played, USA scored another goal and ended up winning.

I had an amazing evening and the atmosphere was spectacular even though the stadium was only about a third full. I am so glad that I went.

Corinna

I am so glad you were able to attend and that you enjoyed it so much. I really enjoy the Olympatics. We watch each night and enjoy the individual stories as well as the sports. What an opportunity to attend an event right in your own town. :thumbsup2

Good morning Js & Ks! :wave2: On my way out the door for the airport! :goodvibes

Thanks - I'm afraid there isn't much to do where I'll be. I have the weekend off so maybe I'll get the chance to go exploring the Ozarks! :thumbsup2

Most of the trips I've made for this particular Study have been 8 to 16 days. They usually put us in hotels that have kitchens (or at least kitchenettes!) so we have some of the comforts of home! ;)

Safe travels Laura. You certainly will be missed! Drop by and fill us in on your time away....having fun. :rolleyes1
I do have to admit exploring the Ozarks sounds pretty great to me. I am glad the study takes good care of you with some home comforts.

Are you going to do a TR when you get back...... :lmao:

:lmao::lmao: :rotfl::rotfl:

:yay::yay: One down. One to go.

Quick question - is there food served at the pool bar at Jambo? And, are there any food offerings at Victoria Falls bar (I think that's the correct name??). We are doing 2 pool days while at AKL and it would be nice to be able to just order from the pool bar for lunch.

And I can see myself slipping off to have a cocktail later at night...maybe something to nosh on there, too..

Any pics of menus?

Thanks!

I don't know about the pool bar, but I know Victoria Falls has some snacks.

The Mara is right in the pool area so very close to get some food from there.

They do?! I didn't know.

I found this menu for Victoria Falls Lounge posted on another thread:

A cheese board, African spiced nuts, and crisp breads with assorted dips.

I don't know how accurate it is.

One day when we were there in June, some had Private Dining bought to them at their lounge chair. They even put a little sign on the chair next to them. That was the first time I had ever seen that at the pool.:confused3

I know for certain they have the spiced nuts, and thought they had a few other things, so I'd say that's accurate.

What can anyone tell me about Boma's buffet breakfast?

It says they have the "regular" stuff (waffles, etc.) along with the international flair. Anybody have details? I'll take ANY info on this breakfast I can get. (Like are the waffles Mickey waffles?
:rotfl2: )

Byo omelettes. Goat cheese scrambled eggs. Amazing potatoes and juice. Whole building smells beautiful.
