We recieved a call in the middle of the night last night telling us that Randy's mom had been hit and killed by a truck in Nova Scotia. Not sure what exactly happened yet - Dbil didn't have any more information as he had just received the notification. We will be telling the kids about it this afternoon.

This is so sad. She was supposed to come visit the kids this summer.

Dh's family (orginally from here in New England) had a farm on Mount Tom, outside of Pictou many, many years ago. She was living in Truro - one of his brothers lives there too. The other two brothers are in Vancouver. So very sad - We just told the kids. They are devastated...

We just got a bit more information.

She was in the crosswalk - walking her bike across the street when struck by a large truck. The truck was turning left, didn't see her and the driver accidently hit the gas instead of the brake. They were getting ready to med flight her to Halifax but she died before they could get her on the helicopter.

She didn't have any ID on her (which is why we didn't find out until 12 hours later). She was only a block away from her apartment when she was hit.

Thank you all for you good thoughts and prayers. It is such a shock - still hasn't sunk in, although telling the kids is making it painfully real...

Thanks everyone - your support means alot to me...

Things are still up in the air. She didn't want a service and wanted to be cremated, with half of her ashes buried with her parents and the other half in Truro. Their graves are in a town a few miles from us. So we might make that "our" goodbye.

Randy and I have been keeping busy and now are sitting down with some sangria...
