I had a protein bar for lunch - lemon cheesecake A.K.A sawdust and I'm having filet steak with garlic butter and salad for dinner, but I really. really want a big piece of chocolate (or cake).
Dh was ever so helpful and bought me a huge(300g) bar for my birthday:mad: So I cut it all up into teeny pieces that are about 5gC each and put it in the freezer (after having 1 piece).

It's a pity your body doesn't give you a break on your birthday:rolleyes:

Elise,
Chocolate is a necessary nutrient! But like anything else, moderation is the key. I just want you to enjoy your birthday and give yourself a break. Visit fitday.com and run your numbers. You will see that a treat here and there is not a deal breaker, as long as you don't fall into the the emotional rollercoaster ride of "I blew it so I may as well give up."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Heep the Faith!

:jester: Happy Birthday, Elise!!!! :jester:

You DEFINITELY deserve a special treat on your birthday! One sinful dessert won't hurt you, just so you don't make a habit of it.

I hope you have a super, terrific, wonderful, joyous, amazing day!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY HAPPY DAY TO YOU ELISE! Heres' what i did to get some chocolate on valentines day. I made up a batch of jello chocolate pudding with whole milk (use what you like) and I bought a box of precrushed graham crackers and lite cool whip. I have some tall sundae glasses so i put about 2tsp of the crusted and packed it into the bottom of the glass then a spoonful of jello them spinkles more crackers and another scoop of the pudding then topped it with a dab of cool whip. These chocolate pies are my favorite so instead of having all the pie in the fridge i just made us a portion them the next day the kids finished off the pudding and it was outta site outta mind. Just a thought i know it's not cake but it's a great alternative for you.

There are birthday greetings on the birthday board for you right HERE

I'm sorry you are feeling deprived. I hope your "real" chocolate doesn't knock you out of ketosis. If it does just start right back on induction again.

I hope your birthday is absolutely magical. There is a surprise on it's way to you so watch your mail :)

I think if there is ever a day to have a treat that would be your birthday!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELISE!!!

Can you have sugar free chocolate? I have seen chocolate for diabetics in Thornton's - maybe that could be an option?

Good luck with that frozen, hacked up chocolate bar! :) I hope it doesn't tempt you too much!!!

You have done wonderful so far! Just think how great you will feel once you reach your goal! :)

Argh! Now I want some chocolate too! ;)

Elise, I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :teeth: Enjoy a little treat, but stay strong -- you can do it!!

I know how you feel about the chocolate, I had a HUGE amount of cake of the weekend a couple of weeks ago when it was DS Confirmation, it knocked me right out of Ketosis for a couple of days.
Have a great Birthday night.

Happy Birthday!

Go get yourself a Ross or PureDelite sugar-free chocolate bar... they really are wonderful. If you can deduct sugar alcohols, they only run about 3 net carbs for a whole bar.

Or make yourself some TRULY decadent chocolate mousse...

4 Tbs. heavy (whipping) cream
1/2 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. sugar-free instant chocolate pudding powder
1-2 packets Splenda (or to taste)
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Whip cream until peaks form. Add all other ingredients and continue beating until well blended. Use spatula to scrape into a small bowl. Chill 5 minutes and enjoy.

Makes just enough for one person, and only weighs in at about 5 carbs. You could add a little more cocoa, if you wanted, to make it even richer.

Or, get a box of Atkins brownies... they are completely sinful. Really. Eat one (or two... it IS your birthday), and freeze the rest (pre cut). Helps with portion control.

:)

Yup, but then I spend all day on the loo - all that malitol etc - ick! I'd rather just have a tiny bit of the real thing.
My dinner was really lush tho - I fried the steak in butter until it was just pink in the middle and the butter was burnt and then threw in the garlic butter and some brandy and lit it - WOOSH!!!
Fried mushrooms and added a little cream then boiled it right down until thick and then poured everything over a green salad - yummy!!

Are there any supplements for dessert cravings tho - I really don't like whipped thingies - more like bread and butter pudding, rice pudding, steamed ginger or syrup puddings with custard - sorry I'm drooling now. I think I need willpower in a bottle.
Having said that I just got one of my recipe books out and it's surprising how many recipes can be adapted, especially indian and thai stuff - just having veggies instead of rice.
