If I were a betting man (and I am)...I'm guessing they are going to announce the 40th celebration theme (something like 'Magical Memories'). Also, give updates on existing projects like Fantasyland expansion, California Adventure, Art of Animation resort, and maybe some cruise ship updates.

There is a live stream on the Disney Parks Blog at 12:45PM EDT from NYC. That's when the official announcements come out.

Unless it's a global Disney announcement, I don't understand why they have to do it from NYC.

Aren't there any good venues to make announcements from inside WDW?

I've wondered the same thing. Most of these announcements lately come from either NYC or Anahiem. It may have to do with the Execs home cities. It may have to do with media outlets and hype. Who knows for sure.

I agree with the pp about making the announcements from the parks but....if the rm317 is right a cruise out of NYC might be what it takes to finally get me to take a cruise. Not having to add on another $1000 or so for flights before a cruise would be huge.

Public perception being that anything "New York" is more important than anything else, even if the company or announcement has nothing to do with New York. All of the media is there, as well. Get covered by the NY media and it is a much bigger deal than being covered by Orlando media.

Maybe they should do the announcement outside a church in Gainesville. Then they might get a huge global audience!

What are we betting? All this sounds good to me, it's about time for them to announce next year's promotion, I'm dying to hear about the 40th celebration. I think they might announce something about the new Times Square store too and maybe some Marvel info. I really think though some DCL cruises are going to be sailing out of NYC too though.

I believe both Radio Disney and ESPN radio broadcast out of NYC, so it's probably where they already have the set-up to do a broadcast. I would love it if the news is about launching cruises from the NYC ports!!
