It's Here!! We're Leaving for WDW!!! Travel Day!!

The Aqua seas tour looks like so much fun! Our DS is still too young but hopefully we will be able to do this in a few years. Your family photo is so cute. My DH says our October trip is the last for a while too :sad1: . He says Disney is not a vacation and it is alot of work and running around. I was very annoyed at that comment needless to say since the kids and I love Disney and would definately go at least yearly. I would love to go to Hawaii though, lucky you. I might have to try your technique and  act like I don't care next year. I think that might work. Good luck with your DD's sleep over Birthday party.

Kathy, yes, I love our picture of the tour because it shows just how happy we were in that moment!

tiggerbelle: love the saying!

kaysmommie: The ambivilous trick definitely worked for me this year...I don't know if I can get away with it again, but I have thought of planning a really rotten trip somewhere else so he will want to go back to WDW...the thing is, I'm too selfish to plan to have a bad time...I want some fun, too! I know I'll get him back there...just not as soon as I'd like.

Well, the last of the girls was just picked up. The sleepover was a success. Only one little breakdown had by the birthday girl, but she was extremely tired (and mature enough to just say, "Mom, I'm just tired and I know I'm being silly, but I just can't help it!"...who of us hasn't felt the exact same way?) and it was settled within about 10 minutes. None of the girls wanted to go home in the middle of the night and they really are a great group.
I just stopped by to check out what was new on the thread and to say hi. I will try to post another installment later this evening. I would do it now...but we are finally getting a beautiful day after a week of yuck and I just have to go soak up some sunshine!

Day 5 does involve a bit more drama though...hee hee...I just have to tease you a bit and keep you interested...it involves a spy mission and the decision to seek medical treatment...fun, fun, fun!!

Why oh why do you tease us this way?!?!?!?!

So glad the party was a success. That was a really mature thing to say. Yay for her and you :)

Still wading through the "stuff" everywhere :)

Went to pick out plants/landscaping for the front yard today. House is painted and it looks so good. I love the colors. DH is not so sure about the dining room, but I think he will like it better once there is furniture in there.

Will check back in later, Amy.

Lisa.....hope you are doing something fun :)

Jaime... only a few more days.

We have 111 days until WDW, 35 more school days and 33 days until closing on our new house :) Maybe I should make a ticker for that event!

Subscribing....I'm having so much fun reading your trip report and I'm learning a lot to help prepare for our upcoming first trip!

So, I just finished reading all of your TR. Actually, I started last night, but fell asleep in front of the computer. THIS IS A GOOD THING, THOUGH... hear me out! I had spent the whole day traveling and being in the sun, hanging out with friends. It was late when I got in front of my computer and I was exhausted because I was sick, too. But I decided to check out the DisBoards (my favorite forum being the Trip Reports) and clicked on your TR. I read, and read, and read. And loved it! I definitely wanted to finish it. But then I fell asleep, in spite of protests from myself. But then I woke up a few minutes later and read some more!! Finally, I had to tell myself to go to bed... I had gotten all the way to what ended up being halfway through the last entry! Anyway, your TR kept me hooked (WL reference? hehe) and I really enjoyed it and I can't wait until the next installment!! :thumbsup2

Hey, Kelly! Sorry about the teaser! I just couldn't help myself! The best thing about choosing colors for interior paint is that it's just paint...you can always live with it for awhile and then if it just isn't right...you can paint over it! Of course, Chief doesn't share my Pollyanna philosophy and groans whenever I stop at the paint counter in Home Depot.
I hope Lisa is having a wonderful time, too...wondering what she and all her boys are up to right now.

Welcome! Glad to hear my report is more than just a lot of hot air and that you are able to put it to good use. I know that our trips haven't been the same since I discovered the DIS and I keep learning new things here all the time!

lamagique, welcome! I'm envious of all your Disney experiences listed in your signature and will have to jump on your links to read your TRs! Sorry to hear you've been sick, but sounds as if you had a good day yesterday. Get some zzzzzs and I hope you enjoy the next installment!

When we went to bed the night before we struggled with the question as to whether or not to tell the other crew that we had managed to score a table for 5 at Crystal Palace for breakfast. After that day's drama, I didn't even feel like trying to work it out for them...Eeyore wouldn't appreciate meeting Eeyore enough to make me feel it was worth any extra effort. So we arranged our wake up call and decided that we would go it alone.

When Stitch called at 6:00 am (I know I'm not alone here...I can't stand that wake up call...I want Mickey back, PLEASE!!), we rolled out of bed. Lou said her head hurt and she felt a bit warm to me so I took her temp: 99.2...low grade...gave her some Motrin and told her to let me know if she got to feeling worse. I decided that Tumor might like to go with us to the CP and we had that extra seat, so I called the other room. Chief asked what I was going to do if the others wanted to go and I told him that if they wanted to go, they could, but they were going to have to go up and ask about getting an unreserved table...I wasn't going to have anything to do with it. Turned out that everyone there but Tumor was sound asleep and she said she did, indeed, want to head over to the MK with us. She left a note for the others and said she’d meet up with us in the lobby.

Funny aside: as we were getting ready that morning, Chief was combing his hair when he called me in to have a look…he’s salt and pepper now and he had noticed that there was a patch of hair right in the front that was noticeably darker than all the rest. He wanted to know if I saw that, too…and I did…I told him it wasn’t that bad and we couldn’t figure out what the heck had happened…he was convinced that he was going to lose either the dark hair or the light hair and that Mother Nature was sectioning it off to give him a head’s up (like that pun? I’m soooo punny!). It wasn’t until we were sitting down at breakfast that Tumor figures it out…it’s from his visor…the sun had faded all of his hair but the part in front. He refused to wear the visor after that. I told him he should have gotten the baseball hat!

We got to the MK right at opening time(our ADR was for 8:10 and it opened at 8:00 that morning) and everything went very smoothly. We made our way down Main Street and there was already quite a line to check in...usual for the first seating of the day and I was completely undaunted. I had everyone wait in line to check in and did what had become my morning walk over to Frontierland to get FPs for Splash Mountain. It was a delightful walk on a beautiful day as Frontierland was completely deserted. It's so magical to be so alone in an area of the park...peaceful and makes you feel as if you have ownership in the place...:cloud9:

FPs in hand, I swiftly made my way back to the CP with perfect timing as they had just finished checking in. The crowd outside the entrance had a little chuckle when a hostess CM pronounced a family's name as "Fugly" (rhyming with "ugly") and a family that was as far from "Fugly" as you can get corrected her by saying that it was pronounced "Fugle" like "bugle". After the "Fugle" family, they called us! Yea! We had the nicest waitress, Karen, who informed us that both sides of the buffet were open and that right then the far side was much, much less busy. I didn't waste any time finding the french-toast-like dough-cinnamon-really-bad-for-you-I'm-sure-things I made the ADR for and loaded up also with the red potatoes cooked with onion and bacon and sat down to begin my carbo-loading process. Boo had come with me to the far side and we both made record time back to the table. We were amazed that Chief, Lou, and Tumor didn't listen to Karen's advice and became lemmings...too bad for them...yummy quicker for us!

Eeyore (the REAL one that brings smiles to our faces...not the OTHER one that has been bringing us down) came to the table first and Boo tried really hard to look disinterested as he was almost there:

Here's Tumor waiting with anticipation:

And Lou:

and Chief (doesn't he look like he's having fun?!):confused3

Eeyore made it and here's some pics (please note that now Boo has a smile on her face...she's such a faker...I know she loves the Pooh characters!)

I laugh when I see Tumor holding on to Eeyore's ear:

Then Piglet and Pooh stopped by:

Tumor and I chuckled at Boo, who kept saying that she didn't care at all about the Pooh characters. Then, to truly make her "miserable" (which I knew she wasn't!), the parade kicked in and she got in line right behind Pooh and did her best to look totally bored.

Tigger was almost at our table when we finished eating and had paid for the meal...everyone said that we should go ahead and go and I was like, "But he's right there and is coming to our table next..." Just as I said that, the parade started for a second go-round and I just as quickly said, "Okay...let's go ride some rides!"

While we were eating we had made a game plan. PotC (because it's not a FP ride and the lines would be getting longer and longer as the morning wore on) followed by Splash Mountain followed by Haunted Mansion and then a reassessment of crowd level might be needed. We all agreed that we wanted to spend the afternoon at the pool, so that would dictate whether or not we rode anything else.

When we got to PotC, I noticed that no one was using the right hand pathway...they were following the lemmings in front of them to the left...so I steered our crew to the right and kept walking, walking, walking, expecting a line to be around each and every corner. Nope...no line! We walked right on to the ride and glanced across at the other line where the lemmings were in for at least a 15 minute wait. As we sat down, I announced, "Don't be a lemming and follow the Path Less Traveled." Tumor and Chief rolled their eyes and laughed at me...but I know that they were very, very glad to not have to wait to ride. We enjoyed the ride and Tumor hadn't ridden it since my boyfriend Jack Sparrow had been added to the ride.

As we walked out of the ride, we ran smack into the special education teacher who I co-taught a 3rd grade inclusion classroom with and her family. We chatted and it was just too funny to run into them...she had said when we talked at school that they weren't going to go to WDW this trip...they rented a condo off-site and were going to go do "other things." The pull was too strong...she said that they had gone to the beach but that they ended up feeling that they should come visit the Mouse, too.

We headed next to Splash Mountain and were very, very glad to have our FPs in hand...the standby line was already 40 minutes. When we got up to the point where they direct you to which number to stand on, we witnessed a convergence of WDW stupidity. There was a family of four who were right in front of us and they were sooooo concerned about getting their ponchos on 2 seconds before they were supposed to get on the ride that 2 of them forgot which gate/number they were in. This was Stupidity #1 (Why did they wait until right then to put on the ponchos if they were soooo concerned with getting wet? Isn't that the fun of the ride...to get wet? To each their own, I guess). Stupidity #1 shortly converged with Stupidity #2: A European couple (only guessing by accent, here folks) slipped right by Boo when they saw that she wasn't getting on the boat that the 2 forgetful poncho family members were supposed to get on and got themselves in the seat of the poncho family's boat with the other 2 members of the poncho family. This left the other 2 poncho family members standing next to the boat saying "Oh, I guess we can't ride together...?" DM Poncho (who is in the boat with DS Poncho) started to get upset and told her landlubber family members (who are outside the boat hovering over the European couple) to get on the boat. The landlubber family members started yelling at the DM saying, "We can't!" The CM running the ride finally intervenes as boats backed up behind them and asks "Who's with who here?" and it got straightened out. The European couple get out of the boat and let the other 2 poncho family members in. Needless to say, they stood right in front of Boo and I kindly (because I had witnessed their earlier stupidity of cutting a 9 year old and breaking up the poncho family) told them that they belong behind my DD. YIKES!

As we are riding the ride, we all decide to try to make some funny gesture on the photo. Chief, Lou, and Boo decide to act as terrified as they can and Tumor and I decide to pay homage to Toby from REC213's WDW Vacation videos that we absolutely, positively love, love, love to watch...Holla, Toby!

splashmountain.jpg

I ended up looking like I had a mouthful of marbles because I was trying so hard not to laugh...Tumor got it down pretty good...and Boo, Lou, and Chief are doing their best terrified looks.

After Splash we were off to HM and Boo talked herself into riding. There was only a 10 minute posted wait, but it ended up being more like 20. We kept Boo cool and calm during the ride by having her look for the Hidden Mickey on the dining room table.

We made our way out of the increasingly crowded park and back at the WL, staked out our lounge chairs by the pool. It was my turn to wait with them first, so Chief takes the girls up to change and I enjoyed the sunshine. I called over to see if Eeyore's crew wanted to join us and Tumor said she would see, but she thought they would. So I sit and snag enough chairs for the adults. Yes, Officer and Princess walked over and made some small talk while I assumed that Eeyore, Tumor, and Prince were getting ready to come down...he then says they'll be back. Chief returned and I went up to change and come back to find only Tumor there.

We determined that Yes, Officer was just on a spy mission to try to gather intelligence about whether we were mad at them and to see if our spot was up to Eeyore's standards. Apparantly when Tumor was changing, Eeyore began ranting and raving at her about being left out of the morning's plans and accused Tumor of sneaking around behind her back. Eeyore still thinks we just went to the MK to ride some rides and doesn't know we went to the CP breakfast...if she was that upset about missing PotC, Splash, and HM, I can only imagine how upset she would have been had she known we did a whole character breakfast! I must admit I felt a bit guilty about not seeking them out more to go to the breakfast...but only for a moment. Eeyore said she didn't want to come to our side of the pool so we stayed on the main side and they stayed on the Villas side...YIKES! Drama galore!

The five of us played and relaxed by the pool and I noticed that Lou was not quite as animated as usual. When I asked her if she was okay, she told me her head was hurting again, so I gathered up the crew and suggested a nap up in the room before we had to get ready for our dinner at the HDDR (which I was really looking forward to and hoping that the drama with Eeyore and crew wouldn't ruin the fun).

When Lou woke up, she looked just terrible, her head, throat, and stomach hurt and she was burning up. Her temp was 103, so I declared no HDDR for her. Chief and I argued in the bathroom over who was going to stay with her...we both wanted to. I went and asked Lou who she'd rather stay with and what can I say...she wanted her Mama. I called over to the others to tell them that the two of us won't be joining them and to hurry along so that they can go pick up the tickets at the ticket window. I had gone down in the chaos of everything to ask the CL CM if we could somehow get our TS credits refunded for Lou and I and also to pick up the tickets. Since it was past 4:00 at that point, they said they couldn't print them out there and that since it was past the cancellation period, we were out of luck with the TS credits. Darn! Oh, well...what could ya do?

I sent Chief and Boo off with instructions to ask at the HDDR ticket office thinking that WDW couldn't possibly punish you for getting sick, could they? Lou slept for awhile and then woke up. The Tylenol had kicked in and she started asking about dinner. We decided to go down to Roaring Forks (for the first time this trip) to get dinner. When we got down to RF, I have to say that I felt spoiled with the CL floor having some food selections and all the TS meals we had had...it wasn't nearly as exciting in there as it had been when we were there two years ago. We got our hamburger and chicken nuggets and headed back up to the CL where we sat at the tables and watched the people going about their business below. Lou and I had a nice conversation (she's wonderful to sit and talk to). We decided to go get another movie from the CL desk and decided to watch the Muppet Movie. She had never seen it and I remember loving it as a child, so we watched all snuggled up together in the room. Chief and Lou came back and had had a good time. The lady at the HDDR ticket window told Chief, "No problem!" about giving us back our TS credits. They had had their picture taken with the whole crew and I was a little sad that we didn't get our yearly family photo...I had not bought the one at Chef Mickey's because our tradition is to get the one at HDDR. Oh, well...here's the one with everyone...Lou suggested that we should Photoshop ourselves into it...but I didn't.
hddr.jpg

We all watched the rest of the movie together and Chief and I decided that we would seek out some medical help for Lou if she woke up in the morning with a fever. I told him that I suspected strep throat with her symptoms but I was praying that it was just something she ate...or too much pool water...or too much sun...or something that would just magically disappear in the middle of the night.

Speaking of Chef Mickey's...here's the photo of everyone that Eeyore decided to buy. She gave me a copy the other day.

Nice report although drama filled! I hate being on the outs with friends... especially when on holiday! And poor Lou  Hope it was just too much sun and nothing serious.

PS I adore Eeyore... the one with the floppy ears I mean :eeyore:

Good for you! You should have gone on again, just to pass those people AGAIN. And your boyfriend Jack Sparrow? That's odd. I'm dating a guy named Jack Sparrow too who works at Pirates... hmmm, coincidence?

Geez, what a downer. Boo. :(

I hope your daughter gets well... hurry up and post the next installment so I can find out! ;) :)

Hi, Marion! I love Eeyore, too...both of them actually, even though the one with the human ears can drive me nuts!

I'm hoping the clouds blew over soon....
Looking forward to more!

Hey, Kathy! It's a-comin'!

Hey, there! Wait a minute...do you think Jack is two-timing us?! Well, he's such a great guy that I'm willing to share him if you are!!

Here I am again dying to know what is going to happen next.... I sure hope that Lou gets better soon on this trip. It stinks to be sick at Disney!

C'mon Amy.... I am waiting :) Been a long 5-year old day :)

Wonder where Lisa is????????

Lou woke me up early, early in the morning throwing up and with a fever of 102. I felt even more sure that she had strep throat and told Chief that we should have her see a doctor. We decided that when the CL desk opened at 7:00 am, I would go down and ask what they recommended. When I went down, she gave me three phone numbers. One was for an afterhours pediatric clinic, one for Centra-Care (a walk-in clinic who the CM told me would send a shuttle to come get us), and one for DOCS (Doctors on Call Service) who the CM told me would send an MD to our hotel room.

I went back and looked over the brochures with Chief and we decided to give the DOCS service a call first. I wasn't relishing the idea of being rounded up on a shuttle and having to wait an untold amount of time in the walk-in clinic (we had been witnessing the crowds in the park and could only figure that the high numbers of people here in Orlando for Spring Break would mean a high number of people in the clinic) and the ironic thing about the afterhours clinic was that it was after their middle of the night hours.

I called the number and got an answering machine. I left a message according to their directions and we all sat around waiting a bit. Boo was chomping at the bit to get going and wanted Chief to take her to the park, on a Hidden Mickey hunt, anywhere. We called over to the others to let them know what was going on and lo, and behold, they told us that Eeyore wasn't feeling great herself. Her uvula (SP?) was super swollen and it was really bothering her...no fever, but she didn't want to go out anywhere. We told them about the DOCS number and Tumor came over to get the brochure from us for her.

In the meantime, the DOCS person (a wonderfully nice lady who I don't remember her name...) called back and got more information to triage Lou over the phone and determine whether or not her condition warranted a doctor's visit. After getting the whole story, she told us that she could have a doctor there between 10 and 10:40. She also told us that the visit would cost $330.... They took MC, VISA, traveler's checks, or cash and would provide us with forms to send to our insurance for reimbursement. I repeated what she told me and Chief took a deep breath and said, "Tell her to send the doctor." She told us that Dr. Bockian would be knocking on our door between 10 and 10:40.

We hung out in the room and watched t.v. and ate the food we sent Boo to go fetch to occupy her a bit. Then a few minutes after 10, we heard a knock at the door and we welcomed Dr. Bockian into our room. He was just the nicest, most kind, and humorous family physician. He put us all right at ease, examined Lou, and spent about 40 minutes with us. His final diagnosis: strep throat. He gave Lou her first dose of antibiotic and arranged to have the pharmacy deliver the rest and some more Motrin to our hotel. He gave us his cards and asked us if we could tell the front desk if we recommend the service and I just knew that not only would I share my positive experience with the hotel, I would share it with the more than 250,000 of my closest friends on the DIS!

Yes, it was pricey, but would we have been back in the parks at noon that day if we had gone with the Centra-Care option? Dr. Bockian told us that as long as Lou felt up to the day's activities, there was no need to stay cooped up in our hotel room. He recommended that we treat her fever with Motrin and Tylenol and bring it with us to the parks to have for her next dose. So, Lou heard that and was up and dressed probably before he made it downstairs in the elevator. We told her to let us know if she was getting tired and we would come back and packed the park bag with the meds and caught the next bus to MGM.

We made it to our ADR at the Sci-Fi right on time and are seated almost immediately. We stuffed ourselves silly and loved the atmosphere, as usual, before heading back outside and to try to do the Backlot Tour that day. On our way there, we ran into Tumor, Yes, Officer, Prince, and Princess. Eeyore had stayed behind in the room after calling the DOCS service who said that she probably had a virus and didn't need to see the doctor. Eeyore called her family physician at home just to double check and he agreed. She wanted to rest regardless.

We all walked over to the Backlot Tour and we found there was a 45 minute wait. I think we seriously disappointed Yes, Officer when we told him that we have a family rule about not waiting more than 20 minutes for any ride and decided to go to the Great Movie Ride instead. While we were walking and waiting, we heard that their lunch at the Hollywood & Vine lunch with the Playhouse Disney characters was good but noisy. Princess loved the characters and by the look of her face and shirt, she loved the food, too.

Princess was mesmerized by the Great Movie Ride...it was cute to see her face and watch her reactions. We decided afterwards to head back to the hotel (Lou was getting tired and the crowds were just too much). We stopped only when we saw some characters out without much of a line:
The girls met Koda and Kenai first but had walked away before I could get my camera out and ready, then went over to see Terk:
SpringBreak2007WDW037.jpg

All three of these characters were a find for us...Lou loves, loves, loves Brother Bear and we never could seem to catch them over at EPCOT in Canada when the movie was newer and well, I have to say that Tarzan is a favorite of the whole family...love the music, love the story...love Terk!

When we left off from the other group, we realized that this was one night we had no ADR for dinner, so we decided that everyone would be on their own that night. When we got of the elevator, Lisa, the CL CM, handed us Lou's medicines that had arrived and then listened as Boo explains about the problem she had with with her ticket earlier that day. Apparantly her ticket had demagnetized at some point and they told us at the gate to get it fixed at the hotel.

Now, here's a backstory...for her first communion, we got Boo a cellphone...she's heading to Middle School next year and let's face it...Chief caved. So, she has flashed this Razor phone all over the place because she's sooooo excited to have it.

Back to getting the ticket fixed: Boo told Lisa that her ticket must not be working because it must have been next to her Razor. Lisa asked her if that was before or after she shaved her legs with it...:rotfl2: The look on Boo's face was just toooo funny. Lisa fixes her ticket and we napped and relaxed in the room.

We decided to head back to EPCOT for evening EMH after splurging on a room service dinner. We figured we were living like kings so far...CL room...dining plan...doctor "room" call...might as well live it up! We called the others and let them know our plan and if they wanted to join us, we'd see them at the bus stop at 8:00. I had to laugh at Chief...at first he wanted the Fish of the Day, then he heard it was Grouper and he changed his mind to wanting two grilled cheese sandwiches. So, I ordered three grilled cheese sandwich kid's meals (one for Boo), a chicken strips meal for Lou, and I had a house salad...man...I wish I could buy/make that apple vinnegrette from the WL...it is soooooooo good!!!

When we were getting ready to leave, I had my hand on the umbrella and waterproof jackets, but decided not to bring them...see, the forecast had called for scattered showers all day long and we hadn't seen a cloud anywhere. It wouldn't have hurt so badly when it started to rain later if I had not even thought of them...but the fact that I had had them in my hot little hands was torturous.

When we got to the bus stop I saw Tumor standing and waiting and got excited...yea! She's coming! I almost said something out loud about being glad that the rest of the crew wasn't coming and was so glad I didn't because when we rounded the corner, there was Yes, Officer and Princess!! Yikes! I know I might be seen as a bad parent for taking Lou out that night when she wasn't 100%, but I can't help but say that we would and have never taken the girls out that late when they were that age and expected them to be happy...we were always in bed at their normal hour or as close to it as possible. This was the first year we even considered staying out later! Okay, okay, I'll stop parent-bashing Yes, Officer, even if I do question his decision!

On the way to EPCOT, I was so happy to hear Chief suggest that we should get a stroller for Lou...I had been thinking the exact same thing, but I hadn't suggested it for fear he would pooh-pooh me. We figured that she would be able to save her energy and rest a bit while still enjoying the sights and the night.

We got our stroller and noticed that droves of people were heading for the exit as it had started to drizzle just a bit. I was definitely wondering why I hadn't just brought the darn umbrella! We consulted the information board and were shocked to see that there was a 100 minute wait at Mission: Space, 75 minute wait at Soarin', and a 50 minute wait at Test Track. Since there are no FPs for EMH, we decided to make our way over to the WS for the girls to get some more stamps in their Passports.

Illuminations scared the life out of us as we were walking over there...it just took us by surprise. The sprinkles were getting more and more steady as we soldiered on. We enjoyed stopping in Canada, the UK, France and Morocco and by that time we were all getting pretty cold and wet. We asked Boo to save the otehr stops for when we came back on Saturday...she agreed and we made our way back out of the park. Lou was the only dry one since she was under the stroller cover and Tumor had given her her umbrella...she was as happy as a clam in there!

The WL bus stop was, as usual this trip, one of the most crowded and we saw two instances of line cutting! Princess threw a nice little fit when Yes, Officer took away the umbrella he had let her hold. He seemed put out that she was acting up and I couldn't help but think in my head, "What do you expect when bringing a two-year-old out at this hour and after a full day at WDW??...Heck, if I could get away with screaming and throwing a good one without them checking me into a mental hospital, I would've pitched in right beside her...I was tired, too!!" Oh well, not my kid, not my call.

We finally got back to the WL and decided that we'd sleep in tomorrow and our crew was going to go to Disney Quest to be there when it opened at 11.
