2 confirmed cases with 4 more probably cases. Lovely.

I thought it had died down and now it rears its ugly head in my community. Has the Swine Flu hit in your area?

Yeah, I live on Long Island and everyone is freaking out here.

Honestly, I think the media's overplaying it. My great aunt had to be taken to the emergency room on Friday and she speant 7 hours waiting because there were 20+ people there getting tested for swine. If you look at all the people that have died they were all either from Mexico or had other health problems.

My city was the first place in NB to confirm it.
It was a 20 something chick who had literally just gotten back from Mexico.

But that was like a month ago, nobody seems to be overly concerned about it, and I'm not either.

Precisely why I'm scared. My immune system SUCKS right now. If anyone brings it home, God Forbid, I'm screwed.

Nope.

I mean, we had like...one case. That was it. But people made such a big deal about it. You'd think that we were going to die. And I know, that for people with weakened immune systems that's a possibility and a legitimate concern, but I'm talking about fully healthy 16, 17, 18 year olds who live two hours from where the case was and probably won't get that close to Concord in their lives.

My brothers friend has it mildly, but the doctor decided not to test him because his symptoms were only the start of the swine flu and he didnt want to start a panic. He just said for him to stay home from school this week, and by Thursday he was feeling stronger, etc.

There's been confimed cases in London, but i've not heard much worry about it. Nobody's even wearing the flu masks you see everywhere (though we got a pamphlet that said not to wear them)

The USA has around half the cases of Swine Flu worldwide. Also, there's been no confirmed cases in Africa at all. I used that as an example of globalisation in my Geography exam...

10 deaths in the USA, 1 in Canada, 1 in Costa Rica and 83 in Mexico.

That map was updated 2 days ago.

There are a couple confirmed cases where my college is, but I don't think there are any where my home is.

Stay healthy Sonya!!

I think everyone is making a much bigger deal out of Swine Flu than is necessary. I mean, i guess for those who are a little weaker than your average person, yeah they should be a little worried. But like George says, not that many people are dying from it. And also, it;s no different from people catching the regular flu virus, and not half as many peple are making a deal about that fact!
But yeah, i just think everyone is getting het up about nothing.

There have been some confirmed cases of the virus around here in Wiltshire, but i'm not worrying about it. All my friends are, mind.
The school has put up posters in all the classrooms about how to prevent the virus and such. They have a slogan: Catch it, Bin it, Kill it ;) And everytime someone coughs or sneezes they all shout the rhyme or shout Swine flu or something. It's rather tedious, and not to mention annoying.:confused3

Haha, i really should stop ranting now.:rotfl:

Mitzi says that when someone coughs or sneezes (Swine Flu!)

Yesterday, I found this face mask that my sisters got from some CSI day at their school. Now it's a swine flu mask!

There was something in the news about this 12yr old girl who got swine flu, and she said it wasn't bad at all. She was enjoying her time off school though...

yup our outbreak was like 4 weeks ago.
schools were shutting down.
it was weird cause it just stopped hahah

I think the media is making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.

There were a few cases in my community, but nobody died and everything is okay now.

Yeah, they closed down a school in my county, and the county over is infected. But we just bought top of the line disinfecting stuff? Yes.

The way I think this virus works, don't quote me on it, but it's like:
1. A person gets sick.
2. It takes a few days to get more people sick due to incubation.
3. This is going to come & go in waves. Things will be fine, and then there will be more outbreaks.

yeah there have been like 2 or 3 confirmed cases at a college about 15 minutes away from me

i'm not really worried

It just hit around here recently. My mom's hospital diagnosed the four new cases that came in last week around here. :/

I know! I don't really think it's as big a deal as everyone's making it out to be...there were 2 cases confirmed in my district though...I live on Long Island too

WE DO THAT HERE!

My friend had a cold for a bit a couple weeks ago and everytime she sneezed, we'd lean away and say "SWINE!".

i agree more people die every year from normal flu than people have died from swine flu so far

There have been some; It's really no big deal though. People got too caught up in the media, and it was nonsense.
