We have spent the last few days packing our POD to the brim--we used every available space in the stupid thing, and it's now on it's way to WA.

The move still doesn't feel totally real. We're stille sleeping under our sheets (albeit on a big air matress), still pulling into our driveway, still getting mail in our mailbox.

Still, next Thursday, we will be making our way to our new house 900 miles away.

I am so bittersweet about the move. I really don't want to leave my job, friends, family....but the new house and new prospects are so exciting.

It is weird being in a mostly empty house--soon we'lll be in our new, mostly empty house!

Well, congratulations on your new adventure. :thumbsup2 There is always an upside to every downside. I hope this turns out to be a wonderful experience. Be prepared for some hard times and lonliness, but you'll work through it if you give it some time. I wish you all the best. :grouphug:

Very excited! Where are you leaving, and where are you headed? :)

We moved to the Washington coast (then moved again for grad school on the Idaho boarder) from California. What a move it was for us. We were in culture shock for a bit as things were different, but maybe that's what we get from moving from the bay area to basically the middle of nowhere. I hope that your move goes smoothly.

You know, I felt the same way when we moved from Atlanta to Miami. Big culture shock. It took about 9 months to adjust, but eventually we did. The thing that helped most(looking back) was that we didn't go "home". We stayed in Miami and worked it out. At least, until the next transfer :car:

We're also moving from the Bay Area to Washington, though, we're in a pretty typical suburb about, oh 20-25 minutes north east of Seattle. We currently live in a pretty typical suburb (though a little ritzy and way out of our proce rang, hence the move) here in CA. I'm hoping for not too much culture shock, but you never know.

We'll be travelling a lot this summer, both for my job and for a 10 day family reunion. I can't tell if this will make it harder to adjust or not!

So the big day is approaching, eh, Bekkiz? Did your Dad come around? You probably will get a little homesick, but I'll bet you & your DH will adjust just fine. It shouldn't be as huge of an adjustment as say, moving to the mid-west or down south.

At least you won't be leaving the DIS! Let us know how the move goes.

We moved from the San Jose area to the coast and found the pace was hard to adjust to at first. But as your close to Seattle it should be an easier transition, especially since their are services close by (shopping, markets...). We didn't make trips 'home' so that possibly helped us as we had to adjust. Unfortunately we do find ourselves missing it and hoping to be back there once DH finishes his PhD.
