Guys I arrived today and it's cold. I was chilly walking around today in a long sleeve shirt and a track suit. When the sun went down it got really cold. I decided to just call it a night since I got on the road at 2am anyway.

Pack lots of warm stuff and pack lots of warm stuff for race weekend. It's going to be cold and we will be standing around for a long time before the start. I suggest lots of warm layers and group panda hugs.

Thanks for the heads-up! Of course it's all warmer than here, but still . . .

I think we may be dealing with record-setting type cold during this marathon! I guess it's always gonna be something!

That is not what I wanted to hear Dave!!! I guess I need to get together some more stuff...let's hope it all fits in one suitcase!

Maybe some freak warm wave will come to break up this cold snap.

The thing that concerns me even more than the cold, which I'm not thriled about, is that the weather forecast is calling for showers on Friday. I don't mind running in the rain in a hot Alabama summer or even Spring, but i definintely do not enjoy running in the rain when it's cold like this. One year I ran a 10 miler in weather about the temps that we're looking at on Friday AND rain, and it was among the most miserable I've ever felt. Yuck!!

Add to that the forecast for where I live on Thursday and Friday, and I may not even be able to get down there!

What do y'all think about bringing an old blanket to wrap around you in the wait to start, then ditching it when you start running?

Michael - I did that last year. I actually ran about 2 miles with it wrapped around me before I ditched it.

Yes, it's cold here! We are looking at record cold for the weekend. Don't think you'll have much rain to worry about, but you can probably leave your warm weather gear behind. My neighborhood looks more like a blanket farm than anything else with everyone's plants all covered up against the cold. Brrrr!

I haven't been posting on the competition board for a while because I'm really not training for any races at this point, but I do check up on all of you occasionally. Seems like training has gone well and the WISH team is ready for WDW. On the positive side, I don't think you'll have to worry much about overheating! :teeth:

Hope everyone has a good race, or races as the case may be! :cheer2:

I bet it is still warmer than where I am now! This sounds like a trip I took about a year ago, the first two days were beautiful, and then, wham!, woke up on Saturday and it was freezing. I think I was the only one in the parks in shorts. Will have to rethink my packing list for this weekend.

See you in three days!!

As Dave states, standing around(or sitting) for 2 hrs before the race starts will be tough. Bring lots of tech layers! Sounds like 2006 all over again!

I don't want to bum anyone, it will still be fun, but I felt I needed to tell eveyone so they could pack accordingly. I don't have enough cold weather stuff for two events so I need to buy some more at the expo. I have plenty for one time but then everything goes in the washer before the next cold adventure. I wouldn't plan on wearing the same stuff two days in a row since the dried salt from the sweat of the half could cause major chaffing issues during the marathon.

That Blanket idea sounds great, I do have an old throw in the car trunk that would work for one day. Some people take towels from the pool areas to sit on at the wait-a-thon we have before the start.

I am likely to do a load of wash on Saturday between events. :laundy: I no longer plan to wait on the washer while sitting by the pool, however!!

I just read my log and looked at what I wore for my 22 miles...when the temps were low-mid 30's. I know I was fine that day, so I am just planning on wearing the same thing with a throw away fleece over top, and a mylar blanket wrapped around my lower. BTW, you can buy mylar blankets for about $2 in the camping section @ Walmart.

I have literally never run in the cold. I'm a total wimp and get on the TM at home. This is my 3rd WDW Half, so I missed the 2006palooza. I'm going to Dick's Sporting Goods tonight to buy long pants. I have a throw-away fleece jacket. I plan to run in a tech shirt with my WISH shirt over it. What else do I need?

TIA!
Maria :upsidedow

As you are in Boston you are more use to the cold than theose from FL.

I don't know if your shirts will be warm enough?

I would add a hat, gloves and several layers to throw away. Hot hands for your gloves / shoes?

I'm running in a cold gear top with a cold gear fleece on top, and I have a gold gear hood on it way.

I'm looking on the bright side. If I hadn't signed up for Goofy, I'd be signed up for a trail run here in TX, and it is forecasted to be 21 degrees Saturday morning. I figure, I'm getting the better side of that deal!! :goodvibes

I have $1 gloves and hat, and I can add some more throw-away shirts -- I just don't have any idea of how much is right? It's going to be interesting to see what I find in the store tonight. I think I can get those hand warmers in the camping section, those sound like a great idea!

I'm walking around in 30 degrees today and it's not bothering me in my coat, hat, gloves and scarf, it actually feels pretty comfortable. :confused3

I have the heating on set at 70 and I am freezing.:lmao:

I'm sue one of the "runners" will be along to help with the amount of layers.

(By runners I mean anyone that uses they legs, as to me a wheeler)

As fast as you go Kirstie you are really going to be cold. I hope you have enough layers. Hope your head is feeling better.

Looked at my Walgreens last night and either I was in the wrong section or they don't carry the hand warmers this far south. LOL

Head is still the same.:sad1: I konw I should take pain meds, I just don't like taking the ones I have to take.

I'm hoping not to get frostbite again.:scared1:

If you don't find any hot hands you can get them here. Super Target and Walmart both have them, I need to stock up on them too. Tinkerbell has them in her work vest and i'm running low!!!!
