Woke up to rain drops on the roof. Thats an unuasual sound, but a very welcome one.
It's been a very tough year for plants here. Entered the spring with a serious drought. No fall rain and no snow. Strict water ban. Odd-even watering on very limited basis. No sprinklers. Hand watering only.
Aganist my better judgement. (Spring Madness) I went ahead and redid a few gardens over. It just couldn't be that dry another summer. Think again! Mamu. It's probably rained 3 times since April and in between the rain we've had scorching tempteratures.
I tried and tried to keep up with the watering, the past 10 days we've had blistering heat. No matter how much I've watered the plants have shone signs of severe stress. Yellow, wilted leaves some actually brown and plants 1/2 the size they should be.
With the much welcomed rain they are predicting cooler temperatures. Hopefully with the cooler weather I'll be able to get into the yard and survey the damage that been done. My only hope now is that most of my beloved plants and some of the new additions with a little TLC will survive. It's going to take a lot to prepare them for the winter.
