Two years and four days after "he" victimized our daughter, he received a "guilty" charge and was sentenced. In the current climate of all the privacy issues, I will not post the entire sentence but justice was positively served!
Her mental profile/inability to respond appropriately in certain situations and his multiple predatory acts weighed in heavily on the decision. There is a permanent protective order in place with some teeth in it in case he breaks it. (After one of the depositions, we picked up on a couple of clues that led us to believe that he was still coming around, watching our house. He mentioned some physical characteristics of our property that had been changed over a year after the crime.)
He has also relinquished all parental rights to our DGD. He waived all rights to contest any future adoptions in the event our DD marries and her husband files for adoption. He never wanted her anyway and was glad to never be asked to pay any money for the little _________. (I won't type his actual word.)
We are pleased, the prosecutor is pleased, the victim's advocate is pleased, and he is paying the price of his crime. Our DGD is as safe as she can be, too. DD help up very, very well. If this had come to pass last year, she would have suffered some serious set-backs. She is older and stronger now, plus she is driven to protect her DGD. While we wanted him to pay the price of his crime, we were all equally adamant in severing all ties between him and our DGD. That was our DD's main focus and the foundation of her strength.
Thanks for your prayers throughout all of this. I know that many of you don't understand the nature of our DD's profile, its impact on actions in all of this, or our parental responses but "the proof is in the pudding". The experts (legal, law enforcement, medical, and psychiatric) are all smiling right now!
Thanks again!!!!!
