I think it's awsome because we are able to stay at a Deluxe resort for a fraction of what it would have been had we booked direct. I feel sorry for all the people that don't know about renting points!! I wish we had known sooner! I don't see us becoming DVC members anytime soon (although we'd love to) so I hope I will be able to continue to rent points for our future vacations, also.
(I meant to post this as a reply to a previous thread)

Make sure you get the correct sized unit for your family. 4 persons plus one infant under 3 yrs old for a studio or 1 bedroom. 8 persons plus one infant under 3 yrs old for a 2 bedroom. 12 persons plus one infant under 3 yrs old for a GV. You won't get bed linens or towels for more than 4, 8 or 12 depending upon the size of the unit. Plus DVC has occupancy limitations.

Deb and Bill:

I don't believe this post has ANYTHING to do with how many people are staying in what size room. I wasn't going to post this on the boards, but since you insist on CONTINUALLY lecturing me about how many people are allowed in which sized rooms, I feel I need to. I did PM you privately regarding this, but obviously you chose to ignore my request to stop the posts directed at ME regarding who is staying in my room.

No matter what the subject matter of my post, you have been hounding me re:the ages of my children. Unless you are specifically in-charge of monitoring the rooms at Disney, please refrain from constantly telling me what I am and am not allowed to do, unless my post has specifically asked that question. This is probably the 5th or 6th time you have posted this information -- do you think that I did not see the first 4 or 5 of them????? You act as if I am trying to cram 2 full families into a small motel room. And, the threads you keep posting this information to are not ones in which I ask anything about how many to a room. If I ask, then tell me. If my thread is about which pool is better, then don't contribute unless you're commenting about the pool.

I apologize for having to post this publicly, but I did ask you privately to stop. Also, your posts are not general...they are specifically to ME which is why I am I specifically asking you to stop.

Pam

Before I read your post, I read and re-read the initial post and bill/deb's response, thinking I was losing it. Hopefully a moderator will help you in this situation.

I am glad that you had a good experience renting points. We rented this past year, then bought not one, but two contracts! Maybe you can swing a purchase soon, but renting is a great option for those in the know, isn't it?

Sharper: I agree -- renting is great. Maybe one day we can afford to buy our own points, but right now with three kids, a brand new house, etc. it's just not in the cards!

One more word (and then that's it) re: my kids' ages/occupancy/and deb's posts:

If my son is going to turn 3 the week before we go, my guess is Disney will not care if we occupy a studio. My conscience is clear about it so I don't think anyone else should be worrying about it, nor do I think anyone should be harrassing me about it.

That said...we are SO looking forward to our trip! Thanks to all those that have helped me and given me information.

Pam

Pam sorry to hear you've been having all this trouble. But, you say Disney would'nt care if your son turned 3 a week before your stay. What about park tickets? Are you not going to pay for him to get into the parks?, if you are then what is the difference between paying for the room and/or paying for park entry?. It would seem that the rules are the rules. And if you are knowling breaking them, then I don't see any problem with somebody calling you on it. That Being said, have a great trip.

Occupancy discussions usually end up on the Debate Board. However, if you are going to be a regular renter you should at least be aware that there are occupancy limitations that all members are advised of and exist in the Disney literature. Just like the moderates have a limit of 4, there are limits of 4 in a studio or 1 bed (exception being the daybed in some BWV studios that makes rooms for 5 if one is small child), 8 in two bedroom and 12 in a grand villa. A child under 3 is allowed in all cases.

It's been reported the Disney does sometimes make exceptions and/or is unaware of what people are doing in the units. I'm not taking on the role of "room police" but the folks here are just sharing the rules as they know them and as they are written in the documents we signed when we made our purchases.

I am NOT trying to start any kind of discussion/debate regarding occupancy, park tickets, etc. Deb and Bill insist on reiterating the 'UNDER 3' policy every time I post something! For instance, when I asked the difference between BCV and BWV, then went on to ask about the pools, she posted "It kind of sounds like you have five people for the room. You really need a two bedroom if that is the case. " Where in this thread did it sound like I had too many people???: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=313502 I feel she is following me around the boards harrassing me about too many people in a studio. AND, I have not said a WORD about park tickets so why try to accuse me of trying to sneak him in the park??

Now, I look bad because deb and bill, and scott have accused me of trying to 'get away with something' when I have not been asking about occupancy. My posts have dealt with other things, but deb and bill INSIST on posting regarding the 'under 3' rule. All I've been trying to do is get information about the resorts. I originally couldn't believe it when deb and bill posted for the 5th or 6th time regarding the policy, but it shocked me even more to see others jumping on the band wagon. The issue here is that I HAVE NOT ASKED ABOUT 'SNEAKING' ANYONE INTO MY ROOM but somehow she keeps addressing my posts as if I am. And now, it seems that it is going to be a debate about it because others have posted comments regarding it.

I'm almost sorry I came back to the boards to research my upcoming vacation. I think too many people are too worried about things that don't concern them. Thank you, however, to all of you that have been so helpful and friendly.

The subject of room occupancy is not allowed on our DVC Discussion Board per the webmasters of the site. Please visit our Debate Board to discuss the topic.
