... and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make it extra special as it's her 16th!

We're flying over from England the day before her birthday so she's quite miffed that she won't get a party! so I need to make it better than a party would be over here in the cold!!

She's made it well known she wants to be in the Magic Kingdom for the day.

TIA
New boy David from the UK.

hope i've put this in the right place btw!

(been lurking for a while now and have gathered loads of info from the boards, loving your work guys soooooo much better than the books!)

There are LOTS of ways to make her day special in WDW! I think that a character meal is a good way to start. Let people know it's her birthday! Isn't there some special pin or button you can get, does anhyone know about this?

Where will you be staying? Is it on-site? If so, you could have some flowers or balloons delivered to the room.

Anyone else got some good ideas?

Welcome to the boards!

Meal in Cinderella's castle? Must pre-book though!

Not sure how much you want to spend, or how much time you have before your trip, but you might consider looking into Gifts of a Lifetime.
I can highly recommend this organization. They created a special event for our 25th wedding anniversary at the Magic Kingdom. But, they are pricey! Have fun planning.

Definitely stop by City Hall and get her a free "today's my birthday" pin/button. My friend and I both wore ours in the MK and really enjoyed that so many CMs called out "Happy Birthday" to us everywhere we went! A CM gave us free apple pie with our lunches at Columbia Harbour House.

I had made a PS(noting a birthday) at CP for the Pooh character dinner and we concentrated on our friend's b'day (28) that night. They made a nice fuss over him - presented him with an autographed picture birthday card from the whole Pooh gang (his faves) - the waitress sprinkled "pixie dust" confetti on him and brought a cupcake with a candle. Then all the characters came out for a birthday parade around the restaurant and we laughed ourselves silly as he joined right in with the little kids!!

The MK is a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday - you could finish the day watching Wishes from the top of the train station!!

How about an Illuminations fireworks cruise or Wishes one? I did this for my 30th birthday - ok I had to plan it myself but it was so worth it. You can hire it for your whole party or see if you can share it with some other DISers - see the thread at the top of this page. I think ours cost $150 but that was a few years ago and included a birthday cake.

Definately go with the birthday button from City Hall - and she'll get a phone call from Goofy. If you're staying on-site, let the front desk know about her birthday when you check in - she may get a birthday card from Mickey and the gang. You can order a Disney cookie bouquet delivered from www.cookiesbydesign.com

You can do the Family Magic Tour at MK - kind of a silly scavenger hunt with a surprise character at the end. We saw Mary Poppins in 2001 and rode in the Small World ride with her.

You can watch Wishes from Main Street or from the California Grill at the CR.

Most of all have fun.

Our daughter had her birthday at MK too, she loved all the attention. The CMs made her feel very special. At The Haunted House they made a great fuss, being her 13th birthday they made a real play on it being their favourite number etc. after all the attention and singing we were then ushered through backstage to the first lobby. The CMs stayed in character all the time.
No matter what age, I highly recommend a trip to MK on a birthday, but try not to let her know what might happen. My daughter, Hollie, had no idea and I think this added to it.
Have fun planning and I hope your sister has a wonderful day.

As long as you have a credit card to charge it to, I wouldn't think there'd be any problem. I've had bouquets delivered in the past to POR and the CR with no problem and they were a wonderful surprise for my family. I think you're sister will like it.
