We have been to Disney 3 times, but we haven't been since Oct/Nov 2012. Our daughter was 6 then and our son wasn't even a twinkle.

Now our daughter is 11 and we have a 4 year old boy. I am planning our Jan/Feb trip which will be our son's first trip. I have ADRs for several restaurants, but I'm wondering if what you make of my list. When we did this with my daughter she was little and princess meet and greets were essential. Not so now. The only character meal I have planned is Chef Mickey's. He's not that big into Mickey but he likes him well enough. His favorite Disney characters aren't at character meals (Sully and Mike, Moana and Maui, Pumpkin Jack, everyone from Zootopia etc). He doesn't watch Disney Jr either so he won't care about those characters.

So we have scheduled:
Rainforest Cafe, we'd prefer T-Rex but couldn't find any availability.
50s Prime Time, a favorite of ours from our previous trips
San Angel Inn, new to us
Chef Mickey's, also new to us

We also have breakfast at Be Our Guest because our 11 year old will love it, but that's quick service.

We are doing the dining plan so we have one more table service meal, what would you suggest? What will a 4 year old boy love? I'd like to do O'hana, but I haven't found availability yet and I may not.

Here are some pictures of my monsters. My 11 year old on our first Disney trip *tear*, my boy and my two monsters together. IMG_8990.JPG IMG_9626.JPG IMG_9911.JPG IMG_8990.JPG IMG_9626.JPG IMG_9911.JPG

The Sci-Fi at Disney Hollywood should be enough to entertain a young child. The atmosphere is fun & unique. Your table looks like a car at a drive-in movie. The food is average, not bad, but nothing special. The atmosphere is great. We haven't eaten there in about 3 years, but we plan on going there again on our next trip.
There is also Coral Reef at Epcot, which has a huge aquarium with large fish, sharks, and sea turtles. However, they get a lot bad reviews and they don't seem to be very consistent. We have eaten there 4 times. The first time was not very good at all. The second and third time was great. The last time was not very good. We did enjoy watching the sea life as we ate our dinner and they also had divers in the tank while we were there. Kids seem to enjoy the aquarium.
I would go with The Sci-Fi between the two. You have great looking children. Good luck with your dining choices.

Here's my 2 cents worth..

If you want T-REX you can always call directly to secure your ressie, it will not show up in your my Disney account, as you are not making the reservation thru Disney, but never the less you will still have the reservation directly with them, also you could become a Landry's member for 25.00 which they give you the credit back, even without a reservation you can get in, with the Landry's club card.

50's prime time is not one of our fav's, and there are so many other choices... unique choices for you to try ... but if you love it...enjoy

San Angel Inn - Is your family really into and very spicy ( really hot) Mexican food, If not I would really rethink this...but....now the margaritas' here are really good.

Chef Mickeys is on our must do favorite list, who doesn't wan to eat with the fab 5...

I would see if you can score BOG for dinner... so worth it, Dinner with the Beast and a photo OP.... Our friends just had breakfast there and said it was not worth it plus it was crazy town trying to get a table for their large party.

Teppan Edo is a great spot for the family and with the show right in front of you (meaning the cooking) going on is really fun, and the food is very tasty. Or Garden Grill with the rotating restaurant is special and served family style.

SCI-FI is another great stop for a family to enjoy a meal... eating in car's watching old "B" rated movies, service has always for us been really great, oh yeah.... the milkshakes are amazing... yummy... When we took our DD's they loved it, they could not believe that people really watched movies in their car like this.

Crystal Palace is another of our favorite...who's doesn't love Pooh and the gang... and food is pretty good and service is always stellar...

If you want T-Rex instead of Rainforest, call the restaurant direct. They always have reservations directly even if they don't have them thru Disney Dining. Phone # is (407) 828-8739.

We are not spicy food people, though we love Mexican, so I want to cancel San Angel, problem is it won't let me online. This introvert does not want to make a phone call!

You should be able to cancel your San Angel ADR on-line... if not try the Chat feature, so you don't have to call.

We are two weeks out and I've been able to find all my adr on touring plan. The best deals for the dining plan are character meals. I would do tusker house. Amazing food and plenty for the kids too

My kids (11 and 8) are big fans of Sci Fi. If you're interested in another character meal, Garden Grill at Epcot is our absolute favorite! Much better than CM :) Tusker House is a close second.

I changed San Angel to Garden Grill. I managed to cancel San Angel by replacing it with Garden Grill rather than an outright cancellation. When I tried that it said it couldn't be done online :-/ I LOVE living with the land, though I might be the only one. My husband thinks I'm weird. It's so nice and peaceful.

We did Sci Fi on our last trip in 2012. We liked it though I don't remember much about it beyond the old movies on the screen and eating in cars. The food doesn't stand out to me though. I just wonder if my 4 year old will enjoy the experience or if he'll be raring to get up and run around.
