I'd google crowd calendars to get an idea of recommended days for each park. Generally MK is going to be the most crowded park on the holiday itself.

This thread tells you a lot about FP+ including recommended rides to FP. The trickiest thing is that some parks tier the rides, and you can only FP one tier 1 (headliner) ride.

I'm an oddball who doesn't particularly care for Thanksgiving dinner, so take this for what it's worth. I have been to WDW for Thanksgiving, and it's much better to just choose a nice restaurant that you're interested in trying than to try to find a traditional dinner. You'll be happier with your options. That said, Garden Grill at Epcot has turkey, potatoes, etc. it's quite good, you get to meet Chip and Dale, and the restaurant spins over various scenes in Living with the Land.

Just my own $.02, we're not worried about what the crowds are like in a particular park on a given day. We just go to whatever park we want to on whatever day, so take it for what it's worth. The obvious crowd is going to be MK on Thanksgiving Day. We did that in 2015. Had a great time, but on a holiday that major (4th of July, Christmas and New Years are similar), it's crazy crowded. Sometimes to the point of capacity. You can still go, we plan to do it again this year. But just have the mindset that it's going to be packed. But beyond MK on Thanksgiving Day, I personally don't think you'll notice any major difference between the parks and days. In other words, the day after isn't an Epcot day because all the others will be crowded. Plan out where you want to be and go for it.

Read the thread glassslippergirl recommended, it'll give you a rundown of FP+. If you still have specific ride questions, ask away!

We will be there for our first Thanksgiving trip this year. I did some searching on these boards and also Googled for dinner ideas. We decided on Garden Grill for Thanksgiving day. I think Boma and Cape May have some traditional items out if you want that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Liberty Tree Tavern do a traditional Thanksgiving meal? We are also going that week this year. Never been during that time, but we are Spring Break veterans, so not worried too much about crowd levels.

Yes LTT has a thanksgiving-ish meal all year long if you're looking for something in MK. That personally wouldn't be my choice of a park on that day. I'd go anywhere but there. There are other options around the resort and at other parks if you want a traditional meal but I've also had thanksgivings where my meal was enchiladas so I'd be ok with a different kind of meal too if I were there around thanksgiving!

We're going Thanksgiving week this year! I did t realize My would be extra crowded! Thanks for that advice. We will have to remember to plan other parks that day!

We got to MK on Thanksgiving Day right around park open, maybe 15 minutes after. Frankly, it wasn't bad at all. Crowded, but not horrible. We got a lot done in the morning. Then we sat and ate lunch. By roughly 2pm, we noticed that it was really crowded (we usually don't notice or pay much attention to crowd size, but this was obvious). We had accomplished a lot by that point, so we decided to just pack it in for the day. Went back to our condo, heated up the pre-made meal we picked up from Publix the night before and stuffed our faces while watching the NFL. Best Thanksgiving ever!!

Assuming you are staying onsite, you need to decide if you want to take advantage of EMH and then just put up with the crowds later in the day. My thought is, it's going to be crowded anyway, so I would want the early hours of less crowded, and then just go with the flow. But you do need to be AT THE PARK when EMH begins to take full advantage of this. If you are night owls and might want the late EMH, just know those hours won't be as less crowded as the morning ones.

One thing you have going for you is MK does NOT have the MVMCP Thanksgiving week, so MK hours will not be shortened. That gives you more options for your MK days.

I'd probably plan AK for Thanksgiving Day. If you want a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and you do AK, you'll have to plan that meal at one of the resorts.

All of the parks will have night-time entertainment. You may have to choose which one you see at HS since you'll only have one day. Assuming they do the same Christmas themed show at HS they did last year, you would be choosing between that and Fantasmic! because they overlap just a bit.

Although my experience is from the week AFTER Thanksgiving, I remember 50's Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios offering a "Blue Plate Special" which featured a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Again, this was the week after Thanksgiving, but I would be very surprised if this wasn't the Blue Plate Specail during Thankgsgiving week! Have fun planning!

As for park days all we know for sure is we plan to do MK early in the trip before the crowds get too wild. We are staying at Beach Club, so Epcot and pool time on Thanksgiving Day :)

We either go over Christmas or thanksgiving and my 2 pieces of advice for thanksgiving are: stay away from MK on thanksgiving and Epcot on Black Friday. AK is good for Christmas or thanksgiving because everyone wants to be in the MK. Epcot is bad on Black Friday because it is the first day of Holidays Around the World. I would highly recommend seeing the storytellers and Candlelight Professional if you can. 50s Prime Time has a traditional thanksgiving meal. Traditionally, we go to AK on Christmas or Thanksgiving and then go to a resort for dinner. Usually, you can knock out most of AK by early afternoon due to the recent crowds.

This is great. Thanks. I have checked the crowd calendar and trying to plan days around that. Will plan to avoid MK on thanksgiving.

Also read up on fp .. that seems to make things tough. Which ones are ones must fp ??? For those places that limit it ...

Garden grill sounds fun and we may just do Epcot on thanksgiving

We were there this year, 2016. We've gone that week in the past, plus we've done early December and the week before Christmas (got home 12/23). This past year was crazy busy, much more than we've seen in the past.

First and foremost, don't expect to ride things multiple times. Be satisfied with getting to ride everything once, and you won't be disappointed.

Get your FPs when as soon as they're available for 7 Dwarves Mine Train, Space and Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan, Frozen Ever After Ride, Soarin', It's going to be busy, make sure you check Times Guides and schedules so you don't miss something that you really want to see, like shows, street entertainment, etc.

Think about eating in advance, even if it's just QS. Look at menus, do you know what you like or don't like to eat, then plan your day to be near the restaurant you want at meal times. We did things like planning a Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion fastpass with time for lunch at Columbia Harbor House in between. Don't just decide you're hungry and see what's close - you may be stuck with eating something you really don't care for.

For Thanksgiving dinner, there are a TON of restaurants that add turkey and trimmings to their menu. All the food courts will have turkey, most restaurants will add a turkey platter and all the buffets will also add it in there. This year, we had brunch at Captain's Grill which was awesome. They had great breakfast and lunch stuff, plus hand carved turkey and ham, omelette station, amazing desserts. It would be our number one choice for Thanksgiving.

Since we had free dining, we also went to Boma for a later dinner on Thanksgiving. They added a turkey carving station as well.

I don't think this has changed, if you have friends who have gone and have magic bands or RFI enabled tickets, you can also get day of fastpasses on those. We had some old tickets of ours that were not added into MDE, so we could get 3 additional FPs once we got into the park. We used those for meet and greets and "lesser" rides. My son also gets a DAS, so we could use that for one or two rides per day. We barely used that though, because we could do the second set of FPs.

USE THE LATE NIGHT EMH! The majority of people leave the parks after the fireworks at MK. That usually gives you 2 or 3 hours of park time when you can practically walk on things. Literally go from one to the other with no wait - get off, get in line, repeat. We used that time for Dumbo, Goofy Coaster, Ariel, Teacups, Winnie the Pooh - everything. It may very well be cold, so make sure you have hats, gloves, scarves and extra coat/clothes to keep you warm. Same for Epcot, you can walk on everything in Future World except for TT and Soarin', but those usually have less wait times. Not much to do in World Showcase during EMH, I'd say stay in Future World.

If you get there when there's a Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, don't plan to go to Disney Springs that night. Everyone else does. It gets crazy busy on those nights.

The surprising thing this year was how many foreign families were there, from all over the world. I wish their travel agents would have told them that it was a major US holiday week and to wait one week and get there when it's empty! There were literally half hour waits for the Fastpass kiosks, and all Fastpasses were usually gone by noon or earlier. I felt bad for all those people who bought their tickets at the gate and tried to get on some rides, they spent the majority of their time waiting.

It also felt like there was less Christmas this year, don't know if it was real or perceived because there were people in the way lol.

We didn't hate it this time, but we don't think we'll go back unless it's the only possibility. We're thinking we would try Christmas some day, or wait until my DD is in college, then we can go whenever because she won't be with us.

Where can I find EMH times and parks for my trip ???
Also we aren't huge night ppl so not sure how much of those we will take advantage of. We are def more morning ppl to normal evening time.

I was thinking of Epcot thanksgiving since everyone says avoid it on Black Friday ... but not sure

This is great thank you. Hoping they will open free dining !!!!! Again this year

We did Thanksgiving week back in 2015 and had a great trip - so much so that we are going again this Thanksgiving. It is a very busy week so make sure to pack your patience. We got up early and got a lot done first thing and saved our FP+ usage for late morning/early afternoon. We also took advantage of late nights which is so much easier to do now that we have tween/teens. The weather is so much better this time of year than in the summer that we often took our midday breaks inside the park - just found a nice place to sit for a while and people watch.

We chose to go to AK on Thanksgiving Day (a late start after a very late night at the MK the night before). We had our holiday meal at Tusker House. It was good and we enjoyed the characters. AK definitely did not seem massively crowded although with Pandora opening this year that could change. We likely will head there again this year for the holiday. Epcot will be our second choice.

We went to Epcot on Black Friday and it was busy but not terribly so. That Friday is the start of the Candlelight Processional which was a must do for us and since it was our last night that meant Friday was our Epcot day. We got plenty done and didn't feel the crowds were so large as to prevent us from doing what we wanted to do although there were certainly significant lines for Test Track and Soarin'.
