DN ( Maggie- Martha and my niece on her first trip at age 21yrs)
DFS(Sandy- Martha and Heidi's friend from Virginia who was meeting us there)

Sorry this took so long but everyone knows how crazy things get at the Holidays...and with having all the kids home from college...its a whirlwind....Back to Disney....We spent the night at a hotel just outside the airport in Boston...everyone except my DN who was meeting us at 6:30 am at the counter at the airport. We were up and out by 6 and in the lobby waiting for the shuttle to the airport. The hotel was a great deal because we could leave both cars there for a small extra fee and when we flew home just pick up the shuttle back to the hotel and get our cars. Well we made it to the airport, hooked up with DN, checked bags....I hate traveling with my suitcase so I always check it in and just carry on essentials...and got some breakfast. After buying the essentials for the flight...mints, gum, water and reading supplies...we headed to the gate. Getting through security was pretty much a breeze although there have been times at Logan when the lines stretches forever. Lucky for us... :D We had the seat behind the exit seat which made for extra leg room on the end. That worked well for DS who needed the extra room. the flight was uneventful...we love those kind.. and we landed at Orlando under cloudy skies but warm temperatures. We New Englanders love any temperature during the winter that is 40 degrees or more...seems like spring. We picked up our bags, picked up the minivan ( we always rent a car ) and waited to meet Sandy flying in from Virginia. Her flight was right on time so we collected her and headed out to WDW. We were staying at one of the Ft Wilderness cabins which is one of our favorite places when we travel as a big group. It gives us more room and lets us have our breakfast in the room, cocktail hour if we so choose, and night owls have room to hang. ( I am one of those) We stopped at the grocery store and picked up the essentials for our stay and then headed to Fort Wilderness. We checked in without any problems and the scooter for DS....now known and loved as scooter girl (torn ACL) was waiting. She drove to the cabin on her scooter...very funny...as we drove the van. We were in the loop closest to check in which worked well for everyone.
After unpacking, picking sleeping arrangements and changing into Florida duds we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom, which is tradition for my DS and myself. We always need to go to Main St and the Castle to know we have arrived. Plus with this being DN first time and DFS first time in a long time, there was no other option. So off we went. Well there are some things in life that touch you in ways you really can't explain and for me that is seeing the view down Main St to the Castle. This sounds corny but all the adult stuff just falls away and I am free to remember what it was to be young again. That for me is what makes it worth coming back to every year.... Disney magic. :wizard:
Well we arrive and despite a few sprinkles the wait was worth it. DN and DFS were suitably impressed and awestruck. In fact I believe that now after the trip is over we have 2 new Disney fanatics to add to the ever growing list.
To start the trip off on the right foot, we immediately went to Caseys for a hot dog and fries. Yum..the thought makes my mouth water...love that cheese for the fries. While we sitting and enjoying we noticed a lot of extra personnel and paraphenalia ( sound systems, lights..stuff like that) and asked what was happening. A woman at the next table told us that they had filmed part of the Disney parade earlier. Drats..but we decided to be on the look out for Regis and Kelly during our stay. that did pay off on later...( stay tuned ).
We did Splash Mountain, got soaked after telling DN she wouldn't :D, went to Philharmagic (has become one of my favorites), the Haunted Mansion and scoped out Tomorrowland. we were not in any rush to do anything because DN and I had tickets to MVMCP for Sunday night ( its Thursday ) and becuase we had decided to make this trip about enjoying things and not trying to do everything a tonce. We are a varied group of Disneyites...some of us like rides, some shows, some just like to do what the moment demands and we thought going at our own pace would work just fine and it did. Sometimes over the next 6 days we were all together in a group or sometimes we just went off on our own. Everyone liked it that way. After Turkey legs and Mickey rice krispie treats and because the park was closing at 6 we opted to head back to Ft Wilderness and and hang. It had been a long day afterall and the next night was Hoop De Doo Review (the late seating).
We stopped off at the Meadow Trading Post to check out souveniers (? sp) and pick up a few more snacks for the cabin. We got back, planned our next day (MGM Studio), had something to eat and fell into bed with visions of Mickey and donald dancing in our heads. Stay tune for the next installment...I promise it won't take as long to get posted.

Great trip report! Tell us about staying in the cabins with a scooter. Was there
enough room inside to park it? How was bus/boat transportation? I have just changed our reservations from ASM to the Ft. Wilderness cabins. We will have two scooters.

Can't wait to read more . . .

The scooter was actually a lot less aggravation then we thought it might be. There is room to park the scooter outside in the driveway and an outlet to charge it. All the boats are accessible with the scooter. the biggest problem and it was a problem of patience and timing was getting a bus that was handicap accessible and then having to use the lift. We had rented a van and our scooter fit into the back so we drove to the TC and took either the boat or monorail to the Kingdom. The monorail was the easiest mode of transportation to get in and out of, then the boats, then the buses. If you are driving tell them that you have a scooter and they will send you up to handicap parking. We did not have a handicap tag but had no problem parking.
