It's all about the shopping... with Wigd and Shocker

WOOT WOOT someone you know and love in TX is sleeping in tomorrow!! Just got the call that due to the rolling blackouts we have been experiencing we are starting 2 hours late!! I don't have to be at work until 10am WOOT WOOT!!!!!

Just wanted to share my exciting news with you LOL!! It's not everyday you start late in Texas LOL!

Awwww, I'm sorry Drew isn't feeling so good.
I have a bit of the crud.
Another reason to be thankful for the snow days.
Just as long as we don't have to make them up.
The chicken and noodles were good. Marc makes really good noodles.
This week is really going to fly by for us!

I quite enjoyed the week I had Wednesday off for snow.
Work two days.
Off.
Work two days.
Off again. :thumbsup2

Drew has strep, and the doctor was shocked at how bad it was. He said she made a face when she looked in his throat. She said she wasn't even going to do a test, but said she wanted to look at it again because it was so shocking! :eek:

How about baking? Do you guys do any of that on snow days?

2 Snow days???

We had 2 last week and one yesterday. Actually, yesterday was an ice day! And it was very lovely driving I might add. Today it rained and all our pretty snow is gone. :sad1:
I imagine we will be back in school tomorrow. Sliding in per say...
We are supposed to have a balmy hight tomorrow of 24 so I doubt that we will have much melting.

Oh goodness, I would adore a late start tomorrow!
Enjoy that extra 2 hours!

Wednesday is a great day to have off, I could get used to that too!
Poor Drew, I know he felt bad with strep.
I hope she got him on something to get that taken care of quick!
No baking this time.
Not that I don't bake.
Just didn't want to be forced to eat it and I would have.
Marc has been trying to resist extra calories as well.

Oh I had a chuckle. I mean AS IF??!! :rotfl:
Oh great, another laugher at me!
Snow stopped being pretty after about one hour of shoveling!
He not only shoveled but when a man and his boys came around offering to clear driveways and walks without their own shovels, he loaned them ours. He really thought they needed the work.

OY, what is wrong with me! I'm going to blame the Nyquil!! I don't believe I told you how much I like you new tattoo!!! Very nice!! If I weren't so darn afraid of needles I would get one too LOL!

That rain, just like our snow can get old very quick.
We have sun and a temp of 1. That's without any wind chill figured in.
With the wind chill it's -16.
You probably already knew that.:laughing:

Brrr!!! Actually, I didn't know that because Jim Cantore was broadcasting from Chicago. Now, I could tell you ALL about Chicago's weather right now! :laughing: It's pretty bad when I am in the kitchen cooking dinner and packing lunches and Charles yells from the living room, "Your man is on!" :lmao:

We're out of school again today too, if we are out again tomorrow I'm really going to be kicking myself for not just pulling the kids out of school on Monday and going with him. Of course, I don't want more snow days, we just have a 2 day cushion from the last day of school until we leave for vacation. We have 2 snow days built into the calendar and we've now used 3......

I think Don needs to swing by DTD and bring you home some Disney treats since he is down there right now! ;)

They finally decided how we are making up our snow days. They took away Feb. 18 and 21 as our winter break, made the March teacher workday a student day, and added thirty minutes to our school day from Feb. 14 until March 18. We are going to be exhausted zombies by the time spring break rolls around, but at least, they didn't add any days to the end of the year.

Yay, for no days added to the end of the year! I'm worried about how they will decide to make them up here. We're on our 3rd snow day this week and we used one a couple of weeks ago for ice, there are only 2 built into the calendar so as of right now we've got 2 days to make up and thats all I've got between the last day of school and when we leave for vacation - yikes!

LOL Oh Jackie the similar events happen in my household also LOL!!! I can even tell you what Jim Cantore had for dinner last night LOL!!! Poor Chicago, I'm cold here I can't imagine what it would be like with 20 inches of snow on top of it LOL!!!!

Glad they didn't add days at the end of the year!! I'm sure that makes you very happy!!!!

Hi Anita, I don't know if I posted here, I know I commented on FB about your ink. It is the same Mickey head as mine on my foot - maybe a little bigger? Did you see my picture, I have pixie dust going around my ankle and down to the mickey though. The mickey didn't hurt as bad on my foot as the pixie dust on my outside ankle bone did!! I also have a believe on my inner wrist and a sun burst on my other wrist, along with a butterfly and vines on my lower back and a rose going through a heart on my calf. Will this lesson my chances of a retirement job at disney? That is me and hubby's goal!!

As for a spouse telling you what to do, well my first husband forbid me to have tattoos. That is why he is my ex (along with a long list of other reasons) and now much newer and improved husband is the love of my life :love:! No one in this day and age should be told what to do... Sorry to be blunt but, I am kind of passionate about that...

We added thirty minutes to our days last year, and it was a huge bust! Parents hated it, teachers hated it more, and kids just shut down at the regular time anyway. It did not one bit of good, at least in our system. They've changed things around for us (teacher only days to student days) and added some days. They say if we get more snow days, they'll start taking them from spring break. That'll be another thing everyone will hate. :laughing:

Lucky for me, it will not interfere with any Disney trips.

Not that it would have, anyway, because I would have been dialing up a sub real quick. ;)

LOL...dialing up a sub!! That's right MeMom!! I would have been all over that with you!!! I think as long as we serve lunch we don't have to make up a day here in TX!!!

Doreen, that's the exact same thing that had been going through my mind but honestly, we aren't 18 anymore. I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 53.
We are both mature women...
I think if at our age we want them, why are we worrying about being 70?
I can cover mine with a pair of slacks it it's a problem.

If you want one then go for it. Enjoy life, live it up!!!:cutie:

I am not ashamed to admit I am right behind you Anita. I am 49 (& holding).

Does Marc like the tattoo?? My DH is not crazy about them but if I wanted one I don't think he would have anything too much to say. And he knows my Disney obsession!!:)

We know that when Jim comes to town we are in trouble. Of course when he comes here it's for hurricanes, not snow! They always joke about it on the radio!

We actually had 3 days off for snow here. We never get snow/ice. The first day and a half were bad, but by the 3rd day things were fine. So they decided that Feb.21 would be one of our makeup days and they added a day and a half at the end of the year. At least the didn't mess with Spring Break....not that it matters since I don't think we're going anywhere.

He really is a great guy!

It was strange, I didn't put it on FB. Maybe too personal or I thought non DISers wouldn't get it. I saved it for us, here, on the DIS....
I too am really excited for the new Fantasyland expansion. I kind of feel sorry for the folks that are taking their once in a life time trip right now...

I even saw you and didn't know about the surprise!!!:rotfl:

I really do like that Vera pattern and I had been saving it for this Christmas trip...
I got mine on ebay, new with tags!

That is a nice pattern

The gift? A new wedding set! Diamonds from the diamond mine!

No wonder he said you weren't going to get an Ipad!:)

I just had Marc take a picture of my hand, it happens to be wearing the ring plus a couple more....:rolleyes1

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's my new wedding set. When Dopey gave it to me it was just the center ring. Later that week the rings on either side were over-nighted to Disney by the person that did the design.
It was quite the little scene in the diamond mine with the 7 dwarves....:cloud9:
I so remember it all now. I'm visioning exactly where we were sitting in Columbia Harbor House having our party snack....
You aren't the only one that I confused with the diamond mine story. The dwarves work there. It's their job to dig for diamonds. So, I asked them to find me one when we were there last November. I think I left that part out of the story. LOL!
That Marc, always thinking!
Thanks, I'm very happy with them!
I thought so too, even though in my opinion the Halloween party is a lot more fun!
You weren't the only one I lost on my story....
It was as clear as mud!:laughing:
Sometimes Marc and his ideas are a bit scary but this time it worked out pretty well!
I had missed the rest of the story about the present! Glad you cleared it up for me!
It is sleeting here today (and was all last night), but they aren't calling school off or even putting in for a delay. I hope the roads aren't too bad this morning.
LOL Oh Jackie the similar events happen in my household also LOL!!! I can even tell you what Jim Cantore had for dinner last night LOL!!!
The thought of those extra thirty minutes is killing us. We just know that it's going to be pointless -- middle schoolers shut down about 3:00 anyway -- going until 4:00 is just going to be crowd control. :sad2:
Jackie and Memom,
Do you teach in public schools? I've never heard of snow days made up that way?! We know in PA that we can't be in school past June 30th. Some years we have MANY snow days (haha)... We've had three so far.
I am in public school. The thought process was that they needed the extra time for TCAP prep before the testing instead of making up days after testing was done. It's all about the testing these days.
Wigd, did you people go to school today and get all educated and everything
or
just lounge around the house and play in the snow and such? :)
I'm much rather go with that over adding to the end of the year or giving up spring break...
All this talk of Jim Cantore is making me miss him something fierce!
Trust me, if he had a rental car I would have already put in a request!
I don't think we've gone over our built in days yet, but I hear there might be more weather coming in....
If we have to make up anything I'll be adjusting to our trip in May. Oh but I've already done some of that.:rolleyes1
Is your picture on the DIS tattoo thread?
If it shows that will keep you from getting hired by Disney. If it's covered you are ok!
How about the beach? Beach Club?:laughing:
Isn't there something you can give them to do that can make the time actually count for something?
I know you have to be trying to come up with something.
Maybe FB 101....
Yikes! Hope you made it in ok.
I'm anxious to hear how the roads were too...
Actually we went to school yesterday.
After two snow days I had a drop in evaluation by my principal. It was the last piece of my formal evaluation. Oh well, at least it's over....:sad2:
I have an observation next Thursday. I told him I want to go ahead and do it back in October when he first gave us the paperwork, but he wanted to get all the newer teachers done first, because they have to have three observations each. I'm going to do my Plants We Eat lesson in Science. The kids always enjoy exploring the fruits and vegetables, so they'll be 'engaged'. ;) It's no big deal, but I am glad I will have it over with so that I don't have it hanging over me when we go on our trip.
