This trip was just dh and I since we were celebrating our very special anniversary. None of the 3 hungry teen ds this time!! O.K. one was there on his senior class trip but he took care of his own food needs, lol!!

5/17/08 Crystal Palace Dinner - O.K. We like the food here and the characters are a bonus. I enjoy people watching with the kids and seeing their reactions. Our table was pretty far away from the food so dh got most of it for me. I enjoyed the mediterrean pasta salad as usual, along with the beet salad, tomatoe and mozzarella salad and ceasar salad and peel and eat shrimp. The rolls were fresh too. I had the meat (prime rib?), potatoes and broccoli, DH had some fish I think. For dessert we sampled a few things, I think cherry cobbler and flan. I dont know if they had soup.

5/18/08 Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch - This was a lst for us. I think Scott was our server. Our table was a booth way in the back of the Thomas Jefferson Room. It was so far back in the corner I actually got to see all the behind the scenes stuff of where all the plates etc. are kept and was watching a cm constantly preparing the place settings. It was interesting and saw how they are stacked into a shelf. Dh and I shared the crab cake appetizer. The crab cake itself was very good and the succotash that went along with it was cold and seasoned well. It was interesting. The rolls were very fresh and the honey butter they served with it was amazing. For the main course we both ordered the colony salad. DH ordered with the dressing it came with. I ordered mine plain with ranch on the side. I tasted dh and I think if I ever ordered it again I would order it with the dressing it comes with. I also saw the pot roast entree go by. If it was colder out I would have ordered that. It looked wonderful. The table next to us, one got the roast beef sandwhich. I looked at it and it appeared to be rather skimpy for the price. For dessert Dh got the ooey gooey pie. It was good with lots of heath bar pieces on the outside. I tried a few bites but Dh and I made a deal to trade and share, wish I didnt do this since I ordered the Apple Tart. All I can say is yummy, yummy and more yummy. It looked like a pot pie with a huge flaky shortbread crust. The apples were warm and it was served with a side of cinnamom ice cream. Just heavenly!!

5/18/08 Tusker House Lunch - Our lst time here. We had gone before when it was counter service. I am not too adventurous as DH. Again our table was pretty far away so dh got me what I asked for. The straws are paper and the glasses for beverages seem pretty small if its a hot thirsty day. Our server was slow with the drink refills. I noticed other tables were on their 2nd and 3rd refills and she was no where to be found at the tables she was suppose to be serving (ours included), but she was pleasant when she was around. I know I had 1 plate with mostly salad stuff on it, ceasar salad, the cucumber salad, (this salad was seasoned with mint and I love mint), the rolls were good and I had a tomatoe salad too. I had some kind of sesame flat bread. For the main course I had the beef and gravy, very well seasoned, the pork (carved too) and had some kind of like fruit chutney to put on it, went very well with it and I had stuff from the kids section, mac and cheese which I thought was excellent, corn, (hot and fresh) and corn dog nuggets. The desserts were such a huge selection. I loved the banana bread pudding. The slices were huge and I loved the giant pecan pieces in it. That really stuck out and we were having a problem sharing it, lol!!

Food from the Hawaii Conceirge Bldg. at the Polynesian - We were upgraded here. For breakfast it generally didnt change, pineapple bread, croissants, cereal, maybe yogurt, bagels which you could toast. Fruit salad. Milk, juice etc. Dinner was cheese and crackers, vegetables and dip and pineapple each night. During the 3 nights we tried the shrimp and curry soup, dh loved it. Some kind of egg rolls which were very good with a dipping sauce, make your own barbeque pork sandwhich, very good except for the basic new wheat buns (totally dry) and one night sushi (california rolls) which dh tried. The mini desserts were great too.
More to come....

5/20/08 - Cape May Cafe Dinner - We have eaten here several times before. Dh and I had our anniv. buttons on. I had the cesear salad, the citrus salad, which was lettuce with a good dressing on it and maybe almonds or cranberrys, I cant remember but it was good, the potatoe salad and peel and eat shrimp. Some other salads which I forgot. The 2 soups were New England Clam Chowder (sorry, I like the Manhattan kind) and cream of mushroom with gorgonzola cheese (It looked like white wallpaper paste) No one was taking it. I stuck to mostly the american food. The selections were beef stew, which was flavored very well and the ribs which came right off the bone. I had a few corn dog nuggets again from the kids section. I think I had the mashed potatoes and a vegetable, green beans? I had dh get me the carved meat. It was beef and was mostly inedible. He asked if they had any more done and they said you could give it to your server and he would take it in the back of the kitchen to cook it more. Well I couldnt even cut it with the knife anyway so forget that one. The desserts were a small selction but good, the oreo thing, the flan with fresh berries which I love and 1 or 2 others. If you wanted something else the kids section had cupcakes and cookies.

5/21/08 - Yachtsman Steakhouse
This was our big anniv. dinner. Just lets say if you are looking for a romantic place, this is not it for sure. Very noisy. Our table for 2 was located near a window alcove where you could see the next table. Next to us was a table of 6 plus with a toddler and infant. They were very well behaved however. DH had a virgin pina colada and I had a virgin stawberry dacquiri. We were served 3 rolls, 2 sourdough which were good and 1 we shared which was either with garlic or toasted onion on top. A garlic side was served with the bread but I told dh not to have it, Too much bad breathe, lol!! We both got the lobster bisque for the appetizer. It was good, a huge portion and I dont eat fast so mine was getting cold by the time I was done. For the main course, dh got the porterhouse medium with the horseradish mashed potatoes. I ordered the ribeye medium with a baked potatoe. They were cooked well. DH did appear to be really pink in the middle and a lot of bone. Mine was cooked perfectly but I was getting tummy trouble, can you believe this, right in the middle of this very $$ meal and told dh to hurry up. I gave him alot of my steak. We also ordered the green beans on the side. I barely touched them. They were definetely too aldente and I think there were bacon bits on top. I felt that ruined the flavor as they were just really too dry. We didnt order dessert but they gave us a little plate that had Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and 2 tiny hearts made of jellied cranberry and 2 little chocolate pieces to share. One was white chocolate which neither of us like so we skipped that and dh took a bite of the other one and didnt like it. I would try this place again but only for a special occasion as its really pricey. Our server was Ramon, he was pleasant but really seemed overwhelmed with all the tables he had. My dh asked for some more of the onion garnished served with the steak and he never brought it but it was o.k.

5/22/08 - Coral Reef Lunch We have eaten here before too. We were seated on the top highest tier. Never sat here before and I am glad we didnt have the ds with us because this view is really obstructed and you cant enjoy the whole atmosphere of the place. DH and I both ordered the lobster bisque. It was great as usual. For the main course. DH had the NY strip. It was cooked perfectly but again, not a huge portion along with the cheddar potatoes and broccolini. I had the lobster salad. Very good and fresh. For dessert dh had the baileys thing and said it was o.k. I had the chocolate wave. The cherries had way to much alcohol. They bought us both a chocolate ribbon that said happy anniversary on it. It was really cute and had fish etc. on it too. The bread was great as usual too.

Chefs de France Dinner - This was a lst for us. The maitre'd had everyone who was waiting outside sing and clap for us as we entered and asked us how many years we were married!! DH ordered evian and orangina, you can tell he has spent alot of time in France traveling lately for sure. We both ordered the lobster bisque. It was very thin and fishy tasting. I barely touched mine and the server asked was it o.k. I didnt want to say anything. The rolls were good. For the main course I ordered the shrimp and scallops with black pearl rice and vegetables (which turned out to be sauteed carrots and celery chopped up). Dh ordered the same thing. We both liked it. For dessert we ordered the apple crepe. It was really good.

Food from the Yacht Club Concierge - we were upgraded here too. For breakfast they had croissants, cereal, little blueberry muffins, banana bread and fresh fruit. These rotated daily unlike the Polynesian. We really didnt do any of the dinner stuff. DH looked in one night and saw sausage and peppers. He did make himself an espresso one night from the machine. Unlike the Polynesian I dont think you can access the lounge 24 hr. I think its like until 10 pm. We had a few of the desserts and they were really good. One that stuck out was a chocolate cup filled with flan and garnished with a little piece of white chocolate.

Only other snack we had in the parks was a kaki gori, I just love those and they gave dh a complimentary chocolate covered marshmallow at Beverly Sunsets at DHS when he got a slushy drink as he had on his anniv. button.
