IASW is in the midst of a MAJOR renovation. Among the tasks being performed are:
- Crafting new outfits for ALL of the animatronic characters.
- Making repairs where necessary to ensure that every mechanical effect is functional.
- Reconfiguring the front queue area of the building.
- Asbestos removal.
- Repairs to the building roof, lighting, etc.
Accompanying this rehab were changes to the old Fantasyland Skyway station next door to IASW. That area has been converted to a stroller parking lot for both IASW and Peter Pan's Flight. Now we don't have to look at the field of strollers that often blocked the path between the two attractions.
I'm sure there are few at Disney that are happy to have this popular attraction closed for nearly a year, but long term maintenance needs necessitated the refurb time. It should be quite impressive once it re-opens in March.
