It's a Small World - overlay removal

Here's January 26th....ridiculous.

I can only agree...and I also agree with the Australian poster earlier. We are visiting for just a few days around Jan 24th, along with my brother's family. The number of ride closures is extremely disappointing. And the fact that he Matterhorn needs to close again, after an earlier refurb, looks like plain bad planning.:(

I think Disney takes its foreign tourists to DLR for granted (interestingly enough there are just a few rides down at this time in the more internationally-focussed WDW). The lack of detailed advance scheduling makes it impossible to plan for anyone, but more particularly hard for those booking airfares (worth thousands!) months ahead. We know January is a domestically quiet period, and expected some closures. But as OPS have said, not quite this many.

Of course we will enjoy what is there, but it's time thought was given to a rolling refurb approach that spreads the load more evenly.

That was me, We booked for February due to cost, as even one day earlier 31/1 price for return airfares was $2300 each, as our end of school holidays run from mid December to end January, thus putting airfare prices through the roof.

February was the best time for us money wise, as return airfare was $1295 each - HUGE difference, it has allowed us to come over for 2 weeks instead of 1.

I honestly never thought Disneyland had a down time/low crowd time, I also never expected closures for refurbishments, I mean yeah I know rides get fixed from time to time, but didn't factor in that they close so many at once to work on them. Add to that I didn't know it was the 60th Anniversary next yr - yeah I know NOT very disney of me...lol

I know we will still have an amazing time, first time out of Oz and all, it is just disheartening to see we will miss some things, as we may never get back.

It would be like you guys coming over here and things you really wanted to see where shut and you missed out, it isn't like you can just "pop back over" when you get a moment...lol

Yeah, I think some people assume that everyone knows the ins and outs of Disneyland - how the refurbishments work, anniversaries, 'seasons', etc. And that isn't the case. A lot of the visitors aren't like the mega-Disney fans you find on forums.

Australia is always open! Yes it is disheartening. There will still be plenty of great things to do, but I know what you mean!

So true, all i knew about Disneyland, before this forum, was from my father and his time there, whilst in the Australian Navy. Even then all he talked about was the small world ride.

From all his time in the Navy, you would think he only visited Canada and Disneyland - they are all he mentions
