I noticed that it will be closed for almost 3 months this fall and wondered if it would get the changes to it that DL got. Adding in the disney characters into the various countries. I really want to see it happen.

Disney has so far denied adding any of the characters like they did in DL. Doesn't mean they won't, but at this point that's all the info we've gotten.

August 1- October 22.

I heard that the load/unload area will be re-worked- no changes to the actual ride.

I had ridden the DL version less than a year before the WDW version. The DL version is not terribly different after adding the new characters. But I did notice a bunch of features in the WDW SW that were not working or not fully functioning.

I am so sad that this will be closed for our August trip. I used to hate this ride, but learned to love it during our last trip, and was looking forward to riding it when I needed a cool down break. :sad1:

I'm sorry you will miss it. DD and I love IASW- we will be at WDW right after it comes off rehab, so we will get to experience the "improved" ride.

That is strange considering IASW had a long refurbishment just before the Greatest Celebration on Earth and part of that was the color scheme change to the loading/unloading area.

I could be wrong- I read about the load/unload refurb rumor on another website. If I remember correctly they said it was going to be something that helped with speed of loading/unloading so the boats wouldn't get so backed up at the end of the ride.

If they do add Disney characters like they did at DL, though, I wouldn't mind. I saw video of the DL version on Youtube, and the additions were pretty unobtrusive. They were in the Mary Blair style, and fit in to the different continents well.

I guess we'll see when we are there in early November! :thumbsup2

I'm going August 5th-August 14th and I'm sad I wont get to ride it while I'm there :(

I hope they fix the belt thing at the end of the ride to the loading/unloading area... Its so bumpy!!! It makes me laugh!!
