I've actually already done the thing I was most looking forward to this week. My wife and I went to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival on Sunday. Endless garlic, sampling, foods, crafts, garlic, garlic and more garlic. It was quite an experience.

Out here we have the Gilroy Garlic Festival. I had no idea they did one anywhere else. I love garlic and have always wanted to go, but never had the chance. Driving down to DLR we sometimes see trucks with giant loads of garlic going by.
Did you go this year? It was our first time and we loved it. I was just saying I'm not sure I'd drive 3 hours to go every year but if we could make a longer stay out of it (we just went overnight) it would be worth it.

We'd love to go to the Gilroy Festival. We were in Gilroy in 2005 when we visited California but it wasn't during the festival. You could actually smell garlic in the air though which was pretty cool.
For any east coast garlic fans, this festival is great. It is located about 100 miles north of New York City just off the New York State Thruway. It's held every September.
Now that this is the "what are you doing this week/garlic" thread ... I have to say I love Penzey's minced garlic! It isn't all mushed and sticky like some get. I just love it for having on hand to cook. Maybe that is what I should do this week- go get some more. I'm all out.
This is all making me very hungry. Which is fine, as my first event o' the week is Thursday night - DH and I are headed to a pre-opening friends & family night at a restaurant! And a brand-new babysitter, to boot. It's our own little food and wine festival, ahead of our visit at the beginning of November.
Then, on Friday, I get to go spend a weekend with my sister. Just my sister. No families (much as we love 'em). Spa, restaurants, shopping, aaaahhhhhh. I can't wait!
Sorry to have derailed the thread on the garlic track...
Other things I'm looking forward to this week:
Our DD turns 16 tomorrow!
Rosh Hashanah arrives tomorrow night.
My cousin who moved to Florida in June is coming for a 3-week visit today. We saw him when we were in Florida last month but prior to him moving, we used to see him every week or two so it has been an adjustment not having him around.
