So unfortunately my dad's health is quickly failing and he decided that he doesn't have the strength to go to Disney.

However, my husband and I decided since we had non-refundable outbound airfare, and return on Southwest that needed to be used before April, that we'd go for a 3 day/2 night trip, and then spend the rest of the week with my parents to celebrate our birthdays.

It's bittersweet, but at least I get a couple of days in my happy place for my birthday, and a few days with my daddy after!

I'm really sorry to hear he's not up to making the trip. Still, I'm glad you will be able to take a few days to go and then finish up with spending some valuable time with him. Cherish every moment.

I had a hard time deciding if I should even go to Disney, and then I realized that I no longer spend time with my friends or husband. I haven't gone out with friends in 8 months, and hubby and I haven't had a date night in the last 12 weeks. Monday-Thursday I'm working 11 hour days, and then Friday-Sunday I'm in another state spending time with dad

I need a break, and I need to find my happy again

Taking care of YOU is one of the most difficult things to accomplish when you're facing these types of situations. It's perfectly a-ok to make time for yourself, and there is no shame in needing (or TAKING) a break! I hope you will re-connect and quickly find your happy again. :)

I am so sorry to hear that your dad is not feeling well enough to go with you afterall. I know how excited you were that he was feeling better. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug:. I think what you are doing is great, you should take some time and reconnect with your DH and what better way to do it then being at Disney :goodvibes. I hope you and your DH have a wonderful and Magical time together so that afterwards you can spend as much time with your dad that you need.:hippie:
