We have an iPod Touch for use as a music/video player, game player (with Apps), and occassionally use it for internet access (with WiFi). As a prior poster noted, you do have to be in range of WiFi connection, you can't get internet "everywhere" with the Touch. We don't need it for phone or camera (primary or only? differences). For us (DH actually), this is EXACTLY what we need. The iPhone added charge for monthly service is substantial and for us wouldn't be the right solution. If however, you are already paying for internet + phone, perhaps the cost difference wouldn't be a big factor for you.
