itouch as baby monitor?

does anyone use a pair of new itouch/iphone as baby video monitors?

Instead of solely buying baby video monitor to watch your baby in bedroom while you are in tv room, you use itouch instead, would that work ?

That's a pretty expensive monitor! And how long is the touch battery life? I wouldn't think it would make it through the night on video.

I never considered getting a video monitor though--just got the audio one.

I have friends that, in a pinch, would use their cellphones as a baby monitor. (They had unlimited minutes in the evenings.)

Its cheaper than buying one if you already own two itouchs or iphones though. My iphone battery would make it through the night, but it can also be plugged in just like a regular monitor would be.

After watching the nightly news last week, I would never use any kind of video monitoring system on a child or any other place in my house. They showed how someone, with fairly simple equipment could drive down your street and pull up the monitor and see what is going on your house. They use it to look for children and to rob the houses when nobody is at home. Scary stuff.
