Itinerary question?

Is it really necessary to have each and every day planned out? It seems like most people do that and I read on another forum that if you don't, your trip to WDW might be a disaster! I realize you need PS for certain restaurants and shows. I will be booking about 5 dinners prior to our arrival. Just my hubby and I will be going for 10 nights. (celebrating our 25th there)I am having a hard time trying to plan an itinerary for each day. I know I still have ample time because we aren't going til next April, but I just can't imagine that I need to plan out every day in advance. I know we will do some boat renting a day or 2 and I would like to do the horseback ride and the Cirque, etc. But do I need to plan exactly what day I do what? I worry that maybe we won't feel like doing a certain thing on say Tues, maybe we'll just want to lay around or whatever.
Is it okay to plan out just a few things hear and there or will I be sorry for not having a full itinerary? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We go for 2 weeks each trip. I try to plan which park that we will go to each day. By doing that I can make PS. I really only make a few as we like to go with the flow. By having 2 weeks we feel that we have ample time to do everything that we are interested in doing and can take a day or two off to hang out at FW. I did the step by step itenerary for our 1st trip with kids, but found that trying to follow a set schedule was way too stressfull. Each of the people in our party have must do's and since we talk about our trip all of the time we all know each other's expectations. We always do all of the must do's and have plenty of time for everything else. My children are 8, 6 and 18mths so we don't have any interest in PI (been there and done it, can live without it) my kids are still a little young for a lot of DQ (I'm sure we will be adding this to our plans soon though), we do one water park each trip (Blizzard Beach is our favorite). We spend most of our time at the 4 major parks and some time at FW. We do DTD and Belz Outlets, but no stressful plans just a basic idea and room for changes along the way.

I agree...When I go for longer trips I try to just have a basic outline of what we'd like to do. If it's a week or more I'll try to at least write down everything we want to do such as
Cirque
DQ
PI
MK
MGM, etc
Then we'll think about what restraunts we want to eat at and make PS. That, a lot of the time, will determine what park we go to that day. Like, we're just going for a weekend June 11-13 but I have a PS at the castle for Friday night. So, we're going to the MK that afternoon.

I agree with the previous posts. You really don't need to have a detailed schedule. Just an idea of what park for what day and what time of day so you can schedule PS. Newcomers to WDW without any kind of plan probably get totally confused and leave frustrated. WDW is so large that you really can't enjoy it without having some idea of where you want to start or end each day.

My DH and I recently returned from our Disneymoon. It was his 1st time. We decided ahead of time which parks we would do each day since we did a PS for dinner each night. But you may want to wait & find out more about E-magic Hours--if you are staying at a Disney resort, you can take advantage of it. I wish I had waited to find out prior to making the PS.
