We are going to WDW the last week of August with our 4 year old (just turned 4 in June). We were at the MK for one day about a year and a half ago and she still talks about it, so we are going for 5-6 days this time. Also, she is now just above the 40 inch mark in height, so there is a multitude of additional rides she could go on.

My question is, which of these bigger rides would be the best to try with her? I am thinking of trying Splash Mountain and Soarin' especially. I am less sure of things like Big Thunder Mountain, Body Wars, Test Track, Star Tours or Tower of Terror.

Any sage advice is appreciated!

I think alot of the replies are going to say the same thing "it depends on your particular child". I have a DS4 and will follow his lead as to what rides to try.

Unofficial Guide says the rating for preschoolers for Splash Mountain is 5+ but I know my son would be terrified (as I am).
BTM was a 3 star for preschoolers and Soarin' was 4 star and I think my DS4 would like those.

I don't really want to spend a huge chunk of time trying to calm him down from a scary ride because I know it would ruin his ENTIRE day at the park. Remember whatever you don't try you'll just have to come back again when he's a little older.... darn! :thumbsup2

We just returned from Disney and my DS turned 4 the last day of our trip. He just made the 40 inch mark while there and he loved Splash Mountain...of course he is a fish and loves getting wet, so keep that in mind. He like the Roller Coaster ride next to it as well, but he had been on Goofy's Barnstormer about 4 times before and decided he wanted to try the "big" roller coaster ride too! We also did the Haunted Mansion, which I was surprised he liked, he said it was scary, but he liked it.

At Epcot he LOVED Soarin'!!! He wanted to "fly" with his shoes off (they make you take them off if you are wearing Crocs or flip flops) and he thought that was the coolest thing!

At DHS he LOVED the Star Wars ride and when we got off said, "Whew, that was close...are we back on earth now?" I about peed my pants laughing at that one!!!:lmao:

Those are most of the "big" rides we did with him. Hope you guys have a great trip!!!:wizard:

AT that age my DD was not willing to ride Tower of Terror (she is now 8 and stil lwonèt but I think she may this coming December when we are there). I think she wonèt ride partly because of the name...TERROR..not a welcoming name. Other than that she rides everything!

My DD4 is braver than DS 7. She loved Splash Mountain, Test Track, Soarin, and Tower of Terror. Start with the "milder" rides and see how that goes

I've been with a 4 yr old twice. My DS is very brave and loved everything, including ToT which is the most scary 40 in ride. When DD was 4 she as a bit more timid however, she LOVED spash mountain (of whic the drop is a small part... theming is excellent inside this!!!), soarin, thunder mountain and star wars. Test track was ok (loved it now at 7) and Tof T was too intense, but she tried it(again loved it this past trip) . Body wars is closed for good.

I would say start with soarin and goofy's barnstormer. If she likes those, try Splash and thunder. Then move to TT and TofT if she is really brave!
