What I will not go without: Lysol, pernament makers, Charger for camera, memeory cards, hairdryer, my own shampoo and conditioner (my hair does better when I use my own stuff) and my robe.

Each time it gets a little bit better. I usually have too many clothes. The only thing I can say about the batteries is it depends on your photo taking. I take a lot of pictures. I don't want my batteries to die and have to buy more on the ship.

Packing a lot less clothes for the 14 day, no more than we brought for the 7 day. I just hope I can get a washer once in a while!

We used the over the door shoe holder (there were 5 of us, so we needed the extra bathroom storage).
We also used the mosquito wipes (needed them in PV for canopy)

We basically used everything we brought (of course I condensed the tips list to about 6 pages instead of the 15+ that are on the thread). It's possible that we only brought the stuff we knew we would need.

Things that were on the list that I brought...that I had no clue how to use:

1. Suction cup hooks...I put them on the mirror...nice decoration!

2. Duct tape...I figured maybe I had to tape my kids down to ever see them on board.

3. Rope....was that for my kids too?


Wish I had brought but didn't....small scissors would have been handy!

I didn't take Duct Tape, but did take clear packing tape and that was handy. I taped up the latch between connecting doors do the kids could get in. Also will fix a hem right before dinner and might put someone's overstuffed over the door shoe holder back together if it exploded!

Ok, I agree with not needing the shoe holder. I think I used 2 pockets of it but had all three corner shelves in the bathroom empty. I used the ones above the sink for face stuff & toothbrushes etc. There are just so many drawers/nooks & crannies everywhere! (sadly, this is a must have on the back of our bathroom door at home- not pretty but sooo convenient!)
Absolutely no need for beach towels from home- who needs that mess?
But I disagree with:
-2 way radios. Wished we brought them! I can't tell you how many times I lost my husband. Wasted so much time (and had so much stress!) trying to find each other!! If you are traveling with more than 2 people you need these.
-Also went through AA batteries like water, my camera started acting crazy (or maybe I left it on?).
-Needed MORE clothes. Packed an outfit for each day, dinner outfit each day and a couple extras and still ran out of clothes. It was so hot we sweat through many things- even the days we stayed indoors! My Father-in-law had to buy a polo shirt the last night- he couldn't take trying to pick the "least dirty" of his clothes to wear!
And no we didn't need the 5 bathing suits I packed for each of us- but we did use 4 each! Most were still wet at the end and I had to put them in a Ziploc to bring home.

My goal is to take a small backpack for a 7 day cruise.

the over-the-door organizer was useful whwn we had only one bathroom in a cat 11 stateroom. however, on the cat 10 where we had 1 1/2 bathrooms, we hardly needed it because there was a corner multi-level shelf to store toiletries.

Thank you! I was wondering if there was anyone else here who packs as many clothes as we do, and still barely made it! LOL! Our family packs our suitcases 'to the gills' with clothes, and wear every single piece. I cringe at the thought of wearing anything twice, and don't want to take up precious time doing laundry.

I think I packed pretty well. And yes, I used every piece of clothing I brought.

laundry detergent -- but I'll probably bring it this time anyway since this time we are traveling with a 9 month old

rain ponchos

Dramamine & other drugs (thankfully -- but I'll pack them again anyway)

clothes pins (hey, it's on the tips list, but I never saw a need)

needlework (I always imagine doing a little needlework in downtime -- and I never do. I'll probably just bring a book instead.)

Over the door shoe hanger is a MUST if you're in a Cat 11 or 12. We used the suction cups to hang the "over the door" shoe hanger on the wall over the comode in our Cat 11.

We also used the suction cup hooks to hang our lanyards on near the door. We were three adults, me, DD and DH in a Cat 11 so organizing and storage were a little tighter than in higher cat cabins.

Definitely used the walkie talkies, some on the ship but more at WDW afterwards.

Used the powerstrip near the vanity to charge the cameras and walkie-talkies, (and phones for return trip) and to plug in the curling iron. It was great because our chargers have large transformer plugs and we wouldn't have been able to plug two into the outlet.

Will take fewer clothes next time. I found a couple of things that were VERY comfortable and it was worth a trip to the laundry room to be able to wear them again.

There was plenty of storage space on the shelves in the bathroom, but we didn't use them because we heard that high seas send things flying off the shelves, so we took the holder and used it. I was glad because the few things we did put on the shelves did slide off when we left Cabo and made that real wide turn. In fact I was in the shower at the time and that was real weird taking a shower sideways!

We took hooks for swimsuits, but didn't need those since we didn't swim as the weather was yucky. Didn't need the clothespins or nightlights. Took duct tape (just a small roll) but didn't need that. I would still take it next time for "just in case".

Glad I took my own hairdryer though! Ours never got hot.

I always bring laundry tablets (soap in tablet form), dryer sheets and a roll of quarters. They take up very little space but I can always wash a few things and avoid these issues. If I run out of a few things they can get washed and I can dry the bathing suits so I am not packing wet things.
