Italy --- never again

We went to the restaurant in Italy in Epcot and it was the worst Disney dining experience we have had.

The waiter absolutely rushed us through the meal. We ordered and 20 minutes later, a lady came out and gave us our drinks, appetizers and meals at the same time. They practically threw the food (no better than Olive Garden food) on the table.

This was my husband's birthday dinner. I told them it was his birthday and asked them to sing to him 1) when I made the reservation; 2) when we checked in; and 3) pulled the waiter aside after coffee was brought and I began to get nervous. All three times they promised they'd sing to him, and it never happened. I said something to the waiter as I left and he completely acted as though he didn't care. He looked at me like I was nuts for being annoyed with the service.

I may as well have gotten fast food. We paid $135 for a meal that was substandard and rushed.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We ate there a year or so ago and it was our first time, and we were not really impressed. :sad2:

That's too bad that you had such a bad experience. :( We've never eaten in Italy. Our favorite Italian place is Palio at the Swan.

Yikes. We've got a PS there for my Mom's b-day dinner, the final evening we are together. I had good vibes when I talked to the restaurant a week ago. Now I'm worried we could have an experience like pentex did. That's such a shame they did not honor your simple request to celebrate a birthday.

I'm definitely having second thoughts....maybe I need to change this PS. Anyone have a good/ :guilty: better experience at Alfredo's?

::MickeyMo Sorry you had such a bad experience. We've only eaten there once, but we really enjoyed it. We plan on going again this May. We weren't rushed at all, we were in the room adjacent to the main room so it was quiet, and our meals were excellent. It was a very nice experience for us. ::MinnieMo

This is NOT how it usually works there. In the future, I'd suggest that if anything like that ever occurs at any WDW dinning location, you simply accept the drinks and inform the server to take the rest back, and that you're feeling rushed.

You are in controll, you are the customer! :)

OK< so you tell the waitress, take this back, we want to eat slowly.... do you know what could happen? Reality sucks! People who want to rush you, do not want you, will not make your experience better if you complain... imho

I would like to thank any one who is willing to post their experiences! From what I understand about the WS that these are independent of Disney.

From what I understand about the WS that these are independent of Disney.

They are still subject to agreements with Disney - Disney would not agree with that type of dinning experience. "Reality (may) suck", but I think it's a bit overly alarmist to infer that something nasty would be applied to you food (not that you said that, but I'm guessing that's your implication).

You are still (despite reservations) the paying customer. You have the right to direct how your dinning experience will be conducted.

I've had the same sort of issue at other locales - once I "layed down the law" the serve realized what they had to do IF they wanted to get an appropriate tip!

Unfortunately, our only experience with the Italian restaurant was "mediocre"--food just OK, service indifferent, and prices high. It is quite lovely, but that's not enough when so many other WDW restaurants can offer more.

No matter what restuarant we are at, if we get appetizers and our dinner at the same time, we ALWAYS refuse the appetizers. We make them take them back and not charge our bill. That is unacceptable in our eyes.

I am amazed when people do not speak up. Where ever you go, if the service and food is not up to standards, based on the price, I can not let it go.

I can say, if the wait staff is upfront about mistakes, we do not get upset - things happen from time to time. Plus, their tips are then not affected.

Sorry this happened. Hope you had a great night any way.

We went to Alfredo's for lunch and had a great meal. The food was great. The waitress was good. I was impressed. It's also very beautiful inside the restaurant. We were in a little side room, though.

We also had a good experience :) We had lunch at Alfredo's and our waiter was incredible. He went out of his way to make sure the kids had fun...the kids LOVED his Italian accent lol

The food was brought out in a timely fashion...drinks, appetizer, then dinners. The kids LOVED their food and I must say I was rather impressed with my fettucine alfredo :goodvibes

I think that each and every dining experience is different. Unfortunately these things happen, but I truly don't believe they are the norm.

We're pretty easy to please, but Italy holds that one restaurant that is crossed off our list FOREVER! Pretentious waitperson, six inches between tables, rushed meal and not even mediocre food. We use the "3 stikes, you're out" method. On the other hand, there sure are a lot of good to great restaurants in the World! (Looking forward to Le Cellier in 2 weeks...yippee!)

Never again for us if you love it thats fine,we don't.

For some years after Epcot opened, Italy was on our must do list each time. My husband in particular really enjoyed it.

But perhaps 10 or 15 years ago, we had an absolutely horrible experience with the service there. It was so bad it is now a family joke. :rotfl2:

Now I know that it was so long ago that we should be able to try again.....but I think not! Too many other places that we love.

we ate ther twice, first time was horrible and , no better than the olive garden, so when we went again two years ago, we went with another couple gave it a try and it was worse the second time, SO with that said, we would NEVER think of wasting our money eating there, i would rather eat a turkey leg for dinner before wasting my money in there.

But that is just our opinion.

We have eaten there twice, we liked it, going back again in May for lunch!! Sorry your experience was so bad!!?? :guilty:

We had dinner there - six of us in the side room off the main room. It was very busy that night, but I don't consider that an excuse because Alfredo's is very busy most nights. From the moment we were seated the push to order wine began and didn't end until our entrees were served. The food was very good and we all enjoyed what we ordered. However, the pressure to order wine, and the fact that we were rushed through the entire meal, has convinced us that there are too many other good places in WS to eat that we don't have to repeat Alfredo's ever again.

After our last bad meal there, 2005.....Never again!!!!! Same experience as many posters above. A shame, as they could have a vendor in there that would cater to customers and provide good service!!!!!

If you are there to spend time and NOT be rushed...
1.Order your drinks
2.After you receive them.....Order appetizer
3. After you receive the appetizer....Order entrees
I would say this about any place in Disney World.
