Well, I am so used to asking you all advice............ ;)

Phil, being an artist, has always had a dream to visit Italy - the place of Raphaels' childhood :sunny:

We were all set for Phil to need surgery this year but, as his surgeons have decided otherwise, I'm planning our Summer 2006 trip ;)

I've found a package holiday (with Airtours) but this doesn't really take into account any extra costs that come with having a disability :goodvibes

The package cost is approximately £2,461 (ok, so maybe not be so approx ;) )

Going online and choosing separate flights etc I've come up with:

Flights to Rimini £675

Accomodation £2,150, full board, in a 2 roomed apt - important if Phil feels too unwell to spend time with myself or DD

There is a 2 roomed apt at :

http://www.hotelmadisoncattolica.com/eng/hotel/index.htm

Carhire to allow him to visit the sites of his dreams: £500 for 2 weeks or £166 for 5 days (I, unfortunately, am only able to drive an automatic car)

We have an art charity (Artists General Benevolent Institution - just in case anyone wants to donate ;-)) that have helped us out of many a tricky situation.
They paid for our limo hire for our recent Florida vow re-newal and have helped us in so many ways when Phil has needed surgery.

They have offered to pay for our 2006 trip to Umbria.

I am in the process of trying to organise an August trip.
If anyone can advise / offer alterntive information..... ;)
The dates should, hopefully be 1st - 15th August.
In the Catollica area,
child friendly.
Chauffeur driven car - although I, personally. would prefer to rent an automatic car (all I can drive!)

Any ideas?

:sunny:

Hi Alison

Not sure if it would be too awkward for you or not but Ryanair do flights from Stansted to Bologna Forli (it's very very close to Cattolica) a lot cheaper. It's a very small, cute airport.

Depending what time you fly out -

1st August £19.99 or £29.99

15th August £24.99 or £29.99

If you chose £29.99 each way for 3 of you it works out at £260.67.

Hertz have a car hire office at the airport so may be worth giving them a call for your car.

Cattolica is a really beautiful place - I'm sure youll love it. I can't recommend accomodation as when we went we stayed in a hotel.

Thanks for that Ang :thumbsup2

The flights look good but got to work on the car rental :sunny:
Found car rental for the same price as I was looking at from Rimini :sunny:

Stansted airport is further away from us but, even with parking, overnight stay in a Travelodge etc, we'd be saving £400 :goodvibes

Just got to run it by the 'troops' now :cheer2:
