Italian Restaurants

We really enjoyed trattoria al forno on the boardwalk. Dinner and dessert were both really good.

I agree with everyone above about Il Mulino but my second choice is Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Italy in Epcot. The food is great there and the ambiance is even better. But they do not take reservations because technically it is a lounge.

I almost listed that one as it's a wonderful place with a good ambiance; however, the OP said "not in a park." ;)

Il Mulino by far. They are headquartered in NYC and we've gone to those too and were blown away. If you can stay open for decades in the most competitive Italian restaurant city in the USA, you are doing something right.

They serve a variety of breads including focaccia. it is large, free, warm and delicious. They start with little tastings of eggplant and a salami. The pasta is fresh pasta but I usually end up with the Risotto Frutti de Mare which is perfectly done, a large portion with plenty of seafood. It is a must do every trip but we stay in the Epcot area resort so it is an easy and enjoyable walk.

Our first time there was years ago and my daughter ordered Fettuccine Alfredo off the kids menu. It was fresh pasta with homemade alfredo sauce. My husband tasted it, then I tasted it, then we had to order a second one because we ate her's. IT IS THAT GOOD.

I'm going to have to go to Il Mulino one day, just to see if all the praise this restaurant gets is that deserved. ;) :rotfl:
The price point is a little ridiculous. $44 for veal that you can get in any great semi-casual Italian restaurant in Chicago for much cheaper, with soup/salad. The entire menu is similar to our semi-casual restaurants.

OP- we have Enzo's Hidewaway on our short-list for next year.

A complaint that is true for nearly every dish in any restaurant at Disney ;)
