It wasn't my fault

Just because both the Hulk and Jurassic Park broke down while I was on them and we had to be "evacuated" down the staircases by the initial hills, it was pure coincidence - I didn't break them!

Just thought I'd defend myself before I get blamed (I tend to be a klutz and get blamed whenever things get broken - though a huge coaster would be a feat, even for me).

so does your DIS name have a deeper meaning then?

Don't feel bad, even if it WAS your fault! There are some people and some rides that were never meant to mesh. Case in point: Years ago they had a shuttle loop called Tidal Wave at Six Flags Great America. I tried to ride it every time I was there but it always broke down. On my first date with DH-to-be, who is a coaster fanatic, he said, "Let's ride Tidal Wave. You've ridden it before, right?" I explained that I hadn't and that we should just avoid it because my presence would be mean instant mechanical failure. He thought I was nuts, so we went, waited in line, made it through the board gates and had just sat down in the train when the operator announced: "This ride has ceased operations. Riders in the train, please exit." And I mean EXIT...you know how they usually let you go back into place to wait? Nope, they made us get off and leave the station! Hubby was floored...he still jokes about it to this day.

I did eventually manage to ride Tidal Wave, but they removed it completely shortly thereafter.

so that is the reason why the tidal wave would break down when i would go on it.....

i'm so glad they took that ride out.
it was past it's time.

the new ride they put in this year is not worth the time to wait in line for it.

Yep, it needed to go to make way for something innovative like Batman...quite possibly still my favorite B&M inverted coaster. I know there are plenty bigger and better ones now, but I love the fact that Batman is smooth as butter and has no break run till the end. Thankfully the Tidal Wave curse didn't extend to Batman for me, although we got stuck on it for like 45 mins. once.

Thanks - I feel much better now. Though I did just have to crawl under the bathroom stall door in the MCO RCC when the lock broke.

Yes - I am talented.

I'm planning on a quick trip report (more "thoughts from a USO virgin" which I'll get up in a few days).

looking forward to your trip report.

be sure to include how you broke that ride down...

I break Test Track. Seriously. I've been on Test Track 3 times but I've tried to ride over twenty times. It always breaks down right before I get one. I've never broken it while I was on the ride though so just don't queue with me for Test Track. If I'm actually on the ride though, you should be fine.

You can break Pirates of the Caribbean if you piss off George, the resident ghost. Just say "George, I don't believe in you!" a couple of times at the beginning of the ride. I've done with with a friend and with my husband...problems both times. My friend did it on a visit with her kids...same thing. George is pretty cantankerous. Maybe USF can borrow him from Disney for next year's HHN icon.

So that's why everything in IOA went haywire!

YOU'RE BANNED!

Until you decide to visit again.:rolleyes1

If I ever see you in the line for Test Track at the same time as me, I'm running the other way! :rotfl:

Were you at Test Track on 10/21?:rolleyes1 We were like two trains from boarding when they announced the ride was terminated and started handing out fast passes. Boy, was my 10 year old mad!!!

i blame phamton..........:rolleyes1

lol. This thread is hilarious. Luckily, I've rarely had to deal with ride breakdowns. Only one this past trip, if I remember. Had to do with some kid during Jimmy Neutron (I think he was too short but no one noticed, or something). Only other one I can remember is one time in line for The Great Movie Ride.

I managed to influence a vicarious breakdown once. DH and I were at Cedar Point many years ago, and I asked him, "If Mangum (200 foot tall steel coaster) broke down, would they have to walk the people down the hill?" He said, "Yes" and I couldn't believe him because I know if it was me up there, I would be paralyzed with fear. I told him I'd have to see it be believe it. A couple hours later we were on Snake River Falls (water ride), glanced over towards Magnum, and guess what was happening?!?! Yep, the lift hill motor had broken and they were walking people down from the top!!! There is NO WAY they'd get me off that thing. They could send food and a pee jar up to the train and I'd just sit in it till they could push it over the crest of the hill. They were taking 'em down like two at a time...most horrifying thing I ever saw.

Ok, I have to admit something--for the first year Spider-Man was operational, I could not ride it. EVERY TIME I tried to, it would have tech difficulties or be closed for major tech difficulties. One time I actually started to ride it and got stuck in the first ride scene. Unpleasant.
