Dh just e-mailed me. I had been worried all day that it might have been, but hoped that it wasn't. It was. I am just so thankful that the pilot was ok. I can only imagine how the wives of the pilots felt this morning. It was the first thing I woke to this morning, and my heart sank when I read that an A-10 went down.

Dh sounded very sad, but glad that he (the pilot of the A-10) wasn't hurt. It has to be such a tough thing to send a plane up, and not have it come back.

I really hope this is all over soon. I want all of our men (and women) to come home so bad!

Hugs, Melanie!

I'm so glad the pilot is safe! And I am hoping and praying constantly, that your DH and everyone else comes home soon!

Please keep thanking him for me!

Melanie,

The first thing I thought when I heard the news was oh no! I hope that isn't Melanie's husband or one of his buddies! When I heard the pilot was safe I started breathing again. Then I thought if this is how I'm reacting how is Melanie doing?

How are you doing? ((((((HUGS))))))

Deb

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. I know this must be an upsetting thing for you, not to mention terrifyling. I'm glad your husband is physically alright, but sorry to hear he is sad :(

Hi Deb,
Well luckily Bill doesn't fly, he loads the weapons on the aircraft or pulls the pins on the bombs before the pilot takes off. He had been working the EOR (End of Runway) for the past two days which is where they pull the pins. I thought the same thing today when my heart sank, that if this is how I feel, how must all of these wives of the pilots feel. I don't know any of the pilots wives, but I do know someone who does lifesupoort for the pilots and she knows them all. I just spent the afternoon with her on Sunday, and we were both talking about the pilots and how scared we were that we might loose a plane. Then to have it happen, was really frightening.

I met one of the wives on Saturday at the Easter Breakfast who's husband is a crew chief, and he is the person that puts the pilot in, and takes him out before and after a flight. I wonder if it was one of the ones that he sent up. That has to be strange to be the last one to talk to the pilot before he went up and know the plane didn't make it back. Thankfully he is safe!

I just can't wait till this is all over. This is just such an emotional roller coaster.

{{HUGS}} to you Melanie. That must be so hard on him (and you as well). I do hope they get to come home soon and safe too.

Hugs Melanie, good to hear the pilot came home safe. Keep your spirts up, your husband is part of the best trained military in the history of the world. My prayers go out to your husband and all of our soldiers

Melanie, I'm so glad the pilot is okay. I can't imagine what the pilots wives were thinking when they heard the news. Sending prayers that all of the troops are safe and return soon. It will be good to get them home again.

I just got a call from someone who said it wasn't one of our planes but that the plane was actually from Idaho.

I guess when my husband e-mailed and said we lost one of our planes, he ment the A-10 in general. I think they work on all of the planes as one big unit, instead of as individual units. It still may by one that he had been working on, but it didn't actually come from Pennsylvania from his actual unit (the 111th Fighter Wing).
