I have a friend that is doing Disney for the first time with four kids. I have been giving her tips, etc. Today, I suggested Autograph books - she knew nothing about them. Yesterday, I talked to her about Pin Trading. Again, no clue. I guess I must be overbearing and out of control because I just wanted to start spewing Disney knowledge at her....but, I held back and contained myself....telling her to let me know if she needs anything. Maybe I do have some self control!!

:thumbsup2 I am right there with you! Can't tell you how many times I have said you have to at least visit these three websites to people I don't even know! Just can't help myself!

Congrats on a job well done. LOL

Does your friend know about ADR's yet? That may be the next thing to find out about.

Maybe if you take it one day at a time, she'll get all the knowledge she needs to help her and the kids have a great trip and won't think you are an obsessed disney person. :thumbsup2

This happens to me all of the time. I find it sooo strange when a person does not know ALL about Disney...but then I realize ok maybe not everyone is obsessed with Disney World like I am.:rotfl:

I have been looking at Disney World stuff every day since I found out my boss was giving my family another trip as a holiday present and then when people ask arent I getting tired out it...I say, "NO I COULD DO THIS ALL DAY EVERY DAY!"

I think it's completely possible to have a fantastic Disney vacation without knowlege of pins, autograph books, or the fastest route from AKL to Space Mountain. Just because we are WDW-OCD doesn't mean everyone else needs to be.

Really...if you say so!;) I know your right but my illness tries to trick me....

Well put.:thumbsup2

Heck, ever since the dining has so drastically changed over the years we still manage to have a great time without any of the DDPs, ADRs or even the park hoppers.;)

I guess if Disney OCD is a "bad" thing, then so be it LOL

Hello, my name is Ang and it has been four hours since I referred to Disney in some way, shape or form

This is a good disease to have in my opinion...

Nah, its not a bad thing and I'm just playing. I remember when I had Disney OCD, nothing wrong with it except it is contagous like the flu. :thumbsup2

LOL!! The thing that happens to me is that anyone planning a trip comes to me and then I spout off so much they can't remember it all!

Yeah, I'm there too. But I'm considered such a nut I'm given their vacation dates & asked to give them step by step directions. I've even made ADR's for people and they have followed my instructions & gone to all the ADR's.

One of my friends had one day in Epcot last month. The date happened to be an EMH night & she was not a resort guest. So I told her how important it was to get there at rope drop & then exactly how to do FP & the Food & Wine festival.

Anyhow, when she came back she told me they had followed my instructions to the letter and were frustrated when one of the attractions went down because they were so worried it would throw off the timing of my schedule. :rotfl:

Agree. I do give some unsolicited advice.

"Oh, we go a lot, if you have any questions feel free to ask me. But I would really recommend you get yourself a guidebook before you go.....and if you want to sit down and eat, you'll need to call Disney for reservations ahead of time."

Those are the only two recommendations that I give blanket.

If they are interested they will ask more. Sometimes they do.

We've never pin traded. We did minimal autographs with young kids - and only did books because my son asked, we'd have just done pictures. Neither activity held much interest for us. I remind myself that everyone goes for different things and the pressure to "do it all" doesn't make for an enjoyable vacation.

I find myself relating to all of the above .....! :lmao: Recently someone I know through work was going for 2 weeks with the family. First trip. Of course I started offering some advice - not too much at first but I was enjoying her countdown with her every morning. She was SOOO excited it was contagious! Anyway, she didn't seem to want any advice on ADRs etc so I didn't push it. I just told her if she needed any info (or to be directed to a source of info) to just let me know. She said they like to just wing it and take things as they come. Very difficult for a planner like me to relate to - I cant - so I just had to respect that we are different and kept conversation to the countdown.

When she got back I asked her if she was planning another one (as a joke - I get back and book the next if I haven't already). She said it was okay but she wouldn't go rushing back. They couldn't find anywhere decent to eat most of the time, didn't know you could get character meals and came home wiith no autographs. Now I know that these things are not all important to everyone, but she just looked so disappointed. I could feel the tears stinging as I walked away . Should I have been more insistent? I so desperately wanted her to have a great time.

I need a friend like YOU around here! I only WISH there was someone to tell me all the good stuff so I didn't have to read this board 24/7 until we leave for our 1st trip!! You don't live in VT, do you?!?!

I have a copy of an email I sent to a friend who was planning a Disney trip. There are my tips and a few websites to visit. I saved it in my sent folder, now I can just forward it on to friends who ask (or usually to people I know are going to WDW and I offer it LOL).

I find it so hard to hold back with friends who have small children and haven't been to Disney World yet (and can afford to go). I want to say, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??????" Moreso, I want to grab there arms and take them with me so I can see that special look in their children's eyes!

My favorite thing is when someone hears I'm going to Disney World on vacation without realizing that I've been at least nine other times and they begin to offer me advice about planning a trip. Ususally it's something about staying at a resort on the park. I consider this an open invitation to begin spewing all of my disney knowledge. After a few minutes of telling them about ADR's, pin trading, and Extra Magic hours, they back off. :lmao: I guess they didn't know me that well because even my bio on my school's website mentions my obsession for all things Disney.

On last thought--I just read Ang's Disney addiction admission aloud to my husband and he said it's not funny. I'm misunderstood in my own home. :confused3:rotfl2:

I don't even bother anymore trying to explain WDW to the clueless.I give them a slip of paper with this website and the Unoffcial Guide to WDW written on it and tell them to call me if they need any help or have any questions.
