Friday May 5th
Back to Disney this morning and Animal Kingdom. My parents are not particularly into Disney although they did take me to see the films when I was little (a long time ago now!) so I had to try and choose the parks that I thought would interest them the most.
We were here for rope drop and it was only me riding Expedition Everest so off I excitedly went and got on very quickly. This is a great coaster and the attention to detail is just amazing. I grabbed a fastpass and then went to meet the others at the Maharajah Jungle trek. We walked through and watched the animals here. Next we watched the Flights of Wonder show which was excellent. I tried a frozen banana from a cart next to the theatre here but it wasn't my cup of tea (or banana). On our way to the safari we spotted Devine wandering about. Next we went on the safari to rescue Little Red. It was now getting pretty hot so we did Its Tough To Be a Bug before heading off to the Grand Floridian for afternoon tea. The tea was a nice way to spend an hour or so in the air conditioned lounge. I had trifle and scones (yum!) and some kind of iced tea which I didn't really care for but then I don't really do tea.
The plan had been to go to Magic Kingdom for a couple of hours just to let Mum and Dad see the castle etc but everyone was hot and tired so we went back to the apartment for a dip in the pool.
I think this night was when we went to Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge which was the best meal of the trip. The hotel itself is stunning and is somewhere I would like to stay in the future. Mum and I had the chefs dinner which was a salad, portobello mushroom soup, cedar plank salmon and berry cobbler. Dad and Ric had scallops but I can't remember what else. I also had a most fabulous cocktail which was called a Raspberry Rapids. There was really too much food but it really was delicious.
