Hi All

Monday 30th July is getting ever nearer. I have just paid Disney for the 3 weeks in a cabin at Fort Wilderness, gulp! and booked (and paid) the Eastgate Towers in NYC for a week at the start of this epic adventure.

In a moment of madness I suggested driving from NY to Florida and everyone thought it was a great idea!!!! 1000 miles or so!. Anyways up, we are going from NY to Washington, possibly by train, rather than drive round NY panicstricken and then collect a car in Washington for the remainder.

There are 6 of us in total, 2 adults, 4 kids and I could do with a recommended car, that can carry us all and luggage. I have said 1 case each and maybe another couple between us. This is as well as the 3 cases that will have to be dedicated to hair straighteners, hair dryers, high heels, makeup and 'a bag to go with that' !!! Personally I could travel with a Sainsburys carrier and toothbrush!

I have looked at the Chevrolet Uplander, 7 seats and 4 cases, I have looked on youtube and reckon I could squeeze our luggage in all the gaps?

Any car recommendations would be appreciated

Also, what experiences has anyone had flying with Delta?

Ta

Steve

Can't help with the car but that's a lot of luggage! Good luck! I don't think I would manage that drive, but I expect it will be a great experience.

We also booked with Delta and are flying to New York the same day but probably a different route (Aberdeen-Amsterdam-Newark) before flying to WDW 4 days later and we went with Delta in April too.

Our outward flight to MCO though was AF from CDG and Delta back to LHR - flights were fine, and we somehow managed to get PE both ways for no extra cost (just happened to be checking seat plans one day and noticed there was no charge)

We hired a Toyota Sienna on our last trip -we were 4 adults and 3 children (13/13 & 11). Initially I was worried as I had read we would struggle for bag space, even Complete Orlando said one person in the party could follow in a cab. We needn't have worried - the car was HUGE we had more than enough space for 4 large cases and two even bigger super pro traveller back packs and there was still ample room for more cases.

Your trip sounds amazing by the way!

Sorry, no advice regarding car hire - but your holiday sounds fantastic!!!

Hi Steve and family....wow, what a great drive and its not going to be overly long. We live in S/W France and to travel to Yorkshire it is nearly 1000 miles and it normally takes us 14 hours not including the crossing but our speed limits are slightly higher so if you plan in an overnight stop then you will get a real feel for USA.....what an experience.

No idea about cars though.....sorry!

Cath :thumbsup2

Can't recommend a car, but we've flown Delta a couple of times from Ireland and we are flying with them again in 2 weeks. Never had a problem with them. :)
Enjoy your trip!
