it seems some of you really love WL...

Everyone has different tastes, so you will see various opinions of all the resorts.

I think WL is beautiful on the outside. The lobby is great. We enjoy our stay there for the price. We haven't stayed there lately because my husband doesn't like roaring forks food options.

We loved the theming, and the resort was absolutely, totally beautiful - we stayed at Christmas, and loved the decorations.

The rooms felt cramped to me - and room size is a big factor for me! For the size of the room, I felt like I could have gotten a value room for a fraction of the cost, and had just as much space.

We booked Poly for next Christmas, but I think I will definately make room in my plans for a visit to WL for the decorations.

We stayed at VWL for the first time in January and it has now become our favourite DVC resort. We love being so close to MK and the resort is really pretty and has easy access to the boat dock to hop over to MK or the Contemporary.

We were really lucky with the buses too and never had to wait long (we've had some real bad experiences)
I guess it's personal preference, we also stayed at AKV and we don't particularly like this place much while others love this resort.

Thumbs up here! I like the look of WL, both inside and out. I enjoy the close proximity of WL to MK. I have never been incredibly disappointed with any Disney resort, but WL stands out because during our stay, (Aug 2006), ALL of the CMs were pleasant and courteous. They all seemed to enjoy their jobs. I found that so refreshing and delightful. I realize this can be either hit or miss during any stay at Disney and I realize I could go there again and experience something different, but I can tell you, I have never experienced 100% courteous CMs at any other Disney resort we have stayed at. WL was also the first resort I fell in love with. I have enjoyed others, but never felt the magic as much anywhere else. :lovestruc

We loved the WL! My only complaint would be that the rooms are a bit small for the price you pay. We had a Courtyard View w/Bunks room, and we were a bit cramped with two adults and a 2-year old. Other than that, we loved WL. Gorgeous theming, wonderful staff, decent dining options, and easy MK access. The pool is fantastic too.

We just switched our Dec. trip to VWL from CR, I can't wait. :santa:

Thanks guys! I am thinking of changing my ressie to a 2BR @vwl. You all are making me very happy with my decision. I hope I will be happy!

I echo other's comments about the room size. I think that the location, lobby, food, etc. is just fine, but I felt cramped in the room- and there were only 2 of us! I guess I have been spoiled in room size by the GF, BWI, and Poly ;)

I really like it too. Yes, the rooms might be a bit small, but they are also cheaper than the larger deluxe resorts. We paid $225/night in value season for a room last Feb. and I found it to be an exceptional value for the money. The lodge is beautiful and the CM's are the best. On our last trip, one CM actually said to us "Isn't this the best hotel? I love it here. I'm so lucky I get to work here." When you have CM's that feel that way, it's no wonder most of them are in such a good mood at the Lodge...

However, I do not like the bus transportation over there. It is pretty bad (I hate sharing buses with Ft. W and sometimes Poly and GF...takes too long to get anywhere).

I think it's a matter of personal opinion. A lot of people LOVE the AKL, but honestly, I hate it. I get a very negative vibe there. Don't know why, but I wouldn't ever want to stay there. It's just a feeling I get.

Everyone is different as others have said. I dont like WL due to the transportation issues and no zero entry pool; but the place is very pretty you can not deny that. We went over Christmas and it was spectacular in the lobby. I could go on about the negatives on that trip but I was at Disney and did not focus on them. Lets just say we wont be staying there again. Now we love AKL and alot of people hate that resort. Just a matter of personal taste I guess. Or maybe it was that deer from he** chasing me on the walking path :lmao: my very first morning there. I still cant erase that from my mind.

Pros: Great location, beautiful outside theming. Easy to get to MK and Ft Wilderness. Nice pool.

Cons: Dark, narrow interior hallways. Bus system still seems a little slower. Seems like the price is based on location, not the resort itself. In my opinion, AKL is a far superior experience for the same price (often less even).

But it totally boils down to personal taste.

WL was one of my favorite resorts - I love the location; love the courtyard and pool; love the closeness to Fort Wilderness (I like biking over there); love seeing the Electrical Water Pagent. :)

But WL has a huge negative which is very specific to my situation - I travel solo, so WL will always try to place me in unused king bed handicapped-assessible rooms with roll-in showers and no tubs, which most are on the ground floor. This has happened to me twice now. One of these rooms was directly next to the loading dock - ugh! This makes sense for WL, since they need solos/couples to fill those extra king assessible rooms, and keep the double beds open for larger families. But I like balconies, and I like tubs! If I can't seem to get those simple things, then WL is off my list now. Which is sad since I loved the place, but I do not enjoy the ground floor (especially not when solo, for security reasons), so I will be booking elsewhere now. Oh well. :(

just a themeing issue for me. I do not like nature so much or campy anything so. . .that said, if you offered to upgrade me to a deluxe (no matter size of the room) from a mod or value I'd take it in a heart beat.

I absolutely love the WL. I have stayed in room 7123 6 times. This place is beautiful...looking out at the lake, you would think you were a hundred miles from anything. Me and my wife and four kids will be there again 12/5/08 - 12/17/08. I can not wait. Woooooooooo!

I love VWL, but not so much the main lodge (OK, the lobby is gorgeous and I have no problem hanging there until ME time ;)) Some of my favorite childhood memories are tied in with my family camping in the Fort Wilderness campground, the lake, boats, EWP. I however am not big on either driving or camping.

WL is the best of Ft W combined with a nice hotel. The villas add on the home aspect to it.

I LOVE the WL :lovestruc

I have stayed at Values, Mods, and Deluxe...I personally think any Disney hotel is better than a non-Disney hotel ;) , but I have become attached to WL. This surprised me somewhat, as I was never big into that log cabin feel, but we decided to stay there for our honeymoon due to the price. Oh boy! we walked in the lobby and were in awe. The room was just perfect for us, but now it is only two of us. We loved the staff (they left us balloons, cards, towel animals, and petals in our room)! The grounds are just breathtaking. I felt as though I was lost in that Disney magic our entire stay. This is the first resort EVER to find a special place in my heart. We were planning on doing a mod this next trip to save some money...well I called about 2 hours ago and...we will be at the WL this November. :rotfl:
