It pays to keep looking for the best rental car rates

A few weeks ago, I went ahead and booked National for our Easter Week trip, after searching Alamo, Dollar and a couple of others. Just went back to Alamo today and and saved over $100 for our 5 day trip - used the same codes I'd tried before - finally got a bargain with a Walmart code and coupon after trying all sorts of combinations. I guess persistance is the name of the game.

So far, my best deal is through Dollar. I hope mine drops soon, because I am couple weeks after you.

It was the second Walmart code listed on Mousesavers.com under their Alamo discount code section. The first code did not work. I was also able to use a $20 coupon on the Alamo website.

Same here. I just was able to top my best rate from Dollar (using the kiss 2 code) with thrifty for the same vehicle by $40 using no code.

Same here. I just was able to top my best rate from Dollar (using the kiss 2 code) with thrifty for the same vehicle by $40 using no code.

I got the best rates from Thrifty by using no code as well. For some reason, the Kiss2 code didn't get me anywhere at Dollar. Then I found an even better rate at Alamo (thanks to a tip on this board.) We'll see if there are any last minute deals as we enter the home stretch!
